One of the few disappointments I’ve been experiencing in this hobby is the sad state of some of my favorite music, as heard through some great IEMs. I agree that music recorded from the late 80s through the 90s are especially affected. Music that was in heavy rotation for me during that era, mostly rock and pop, now mostly sounds like garbage through most of my current and recent IEMs, all except for Trifecta.

If mastering was the culprit, I was hoping the deluxe remastering that is being produced for most great rock albums from that era would solve the issue. But new editions of classics such as U2’s Achtung Baby, Nirvana’s Nevermind, and Rage Against The Machine’s debut album still sound like sludge, with zero dynamic range. This would be the reason to always keep room in my roster for Trifecta.

Even the MFSL sounds crap vs this one.

this is surprising to hear 😂 yes it’s so good I’m excited to just have it on in the background like I do with the Animal Crossing soundtrack lol

Some of these great albums then will be relegated to my 2 channel and car stereo systems. Those have become like specialist IEMs for me in that sense. My sludgy 80s-90s rock never sounds better than there!
I get that, just like listening to them when they came out!

My thumbnail pic is a dead giveaway 😁
There's a nice playlist on YouTube that has some other Zelda tracks mixed in. Check it out if you get a chance it's great ambience music.

Looking to add a tube to my chain, has anyone tried the iFi Pro iDSD DAC/streamer/amp???

drftr
Used it at a meet for some hours, with IEMs I didn't find it to be that better than the N7 I had with me.
Headphones and my 600ohm earbud seemed very good, but again couldn't compare it to my Burson or Topping gear at home.
