Speaking of SP3000, I'll have to admit I'm a case addict with this device. I swear I have only one case for my phone but now 4 for the SP3000
My latest addition was a brown "Dignis LUCETE Patina Limited Case" which I've been using for 1.5 months now. I really like this case a lot. It has a nice color & gradient and with the artificial patina it seems to be much less delicate than most other cases, original Dignis included. You can see abrasions on the black A&K case, as well as on the original Dignis after just some days of use. Not so with the patina version. After 1,5 months it still looks brand new.
I'm kind of with you on the Grand Maestro. I've demoed it like 4 times between SoCal and NYC and have found it firmly in the "unoffensively good but nothing really stands out to make it great" category. I've heard it's very sensitive to source and scales wonderfully so I'm guessing I just haven't found the right match for it.
I can reason with this. I also think that’s part of its charm for me, is that it sounds quite ordinary or normal until it need to dig deep into the sub bass where I feel is where it sounds extraordinary or brings out those “wow” type moments. For me this simultaneously makes it a good enough all-rounder but a specialist at the same time.
As far as sources go with GM, for me the differences between them is mainly about bringing out bass texture, dynamics, and layering. Outside of that I think it sounds “fairly good” from whatever. It is a definitely incredibly power hungry and will eat up good amplification if you give it to it. But I wouldn’t say listening to it from an external amp versus even a mid fi DAP would largely change one’s opinions on it.

I agree! In fact, it's an iem I've enjoyed well enough to order in custom. Although I must say that listening to it through the DMP does add wonderful texture and improved timbre through the mids and treble as well. Strictly IMO.

I was really close to buying a DMP Z1 just to hear it as it’s still a bucket list item for me, but honestly I’m just far too lazy at this point. I don’t want to deal with resale and I’m quite happy (enormous understatement) with the N30 LE, but eventually I’ll hear one.

Yeah, the N30 is really a sonic marvel to my ears. And truly, as wonderous as the DMP is to me, I hesitate comparing it to DAPS, as it is physically on the high side of transportable.

I've decided to keep and maintain my IEMs like a collection. The collectors pieces are Noble Viking Damascus, Subtonic Storm Launch edition, Oriolus Traillii and UM Red Halo. Probably Singularity too as the first IEM from NightJar.

Same approach here. Looking at your collection it’s very similar to mine. Except for the Erlkonig. (But I don’t have Storm, boohoo). Which seems to be missing in your signature btw, unless I missed it.
