Coming to the end of a wonderful two week holiday that started in Italy and ended in Fuerteventura - the star IEM of the holiday without question has been the super addictive DUNU SA6 MKII… detailed, smooth, and beautiful timbre - I just can’t get enough of them. I’ve three sets landing on Friday to welcome me home to grey and miserable Dublin:
  1. Nightjar Acoustics Singularity
  2. Hifiman Svanar TWS
  3. Kiwiears Quintet
Very excited to hear all three, most notably Singularity based on the excellent impressions I’ve read so far, my passion for single DDs and the fantastic minimalist design which I can’t deny influenced a rather spontaneous purchase just a few days ago from Elise Audio.

Best way to end a fantastic holiday - order new audio toys 🥰

Aye, AFUL P8 and SA6II. Two lovely IEMs. Nice holiday for you indeed, sir. What are those red tips on the Dunu?

Looking forward for your impressions of the quintet.

Looking forward for your impressions of the quintet.

The P8 have been my daily driver by the pool, and SA6 in the evening / night. The tips on the SA6 are stock tips from the wonderful Sonic Memory SM2 - I’ve actually since switched to the Azla Standard tips as the SM2 tips were creating some pressure build.

You are in for a great homecoming! I look forward to your Singularity and Svanar impressions very much - both are high on my radar. The Quintet I have - and I think you may be pleasantly surprised at what they can do. They are my mini-Ronins on-the-go. Hours and hours pass with them in my ears - such a full, enveloping sound with deep deep bass, and wonderful details and great imaging to boot. Cheers

Hey guys
If Ragnar and Xe6 had a baby would you guys say it’s rn6 or is that too far off?
Really curious because I own both and would want something that’s tuning wise right in the middle of them! I truly enjoy both as how they are don’t get me wrong. It’s just an idea or fantasy I had if these two were combined what would closely result out of it.
And there’s no place better to ask this kind of question I guess. So this goes to the folks who had the opportunity to hear them!
TIA
I own both, as well as a Ronin and Rn6. You could say the Rn6 is in between the Ragnar and Xe6, but you could also say that of the Ronin… so I think you should also seriously consider the Ronin.

The Ronin is more reference-tuned, like the Ragnar, but with a much warmer tonality (but not overly warm) and an amazingly natural timbre. If you listen to a solo piano for example, it sounds like there’s a piano in the room. Just perfectly natural. It’s the best “reference” IEM I’ve personally heard. You lose just a little bit of the extreme detail and huge soundstage of the Ragnar, but it’s a very worthwhile tradeoff for the tuning.

The Rn6 has a more “fun”, U-shaped tuning. Imagine the Xe6 with a lot of the mid-bass taken out, and more clarity and air in the treble. And of course it has the kinetic bass. It’s certainly complementary to the Xe6. Soundstage falls just a little short of the Ronin, especially in depth, but is still respectable.

So I think either could be a great addition to your collection, depending on what you’re looking for.

There’s also the Kr5, but I haven’t had a chance to hear it.

Great description of the Ronin v. Rn6. Ronin is my choice for that space between full/deep/warm and wide/technical/detailed. In love with it right now

Blotmouse, what cable do you use/recommend for Singularity?
I had to go look up what cable I received and it looks like Vanguard (Stock Cable - OE Multi-Plug)
Whether or not you like it or not is unknown. Everyone has their own listening vocabulary, abilities, experience, and preferences.
Could be just fine. Personally I was on the fence about selling the iem. Then started rolling cables and landed on Venom as my saving grace. Fixed all the issues I was having.
But those tuning and texture issues are most likely mine alone. I can say confidently it cleaned up the resolving capabilities of the iem though. You can tell its quite detailed but needed a windshield wiper to let them sing.

I don't have the worlds largest collection of high end cables to chose from but from what I had, it was Venom that took the gold. Maybe a super nice PWaudio would do something similar. But there is a very unique character to Venom that seems it wouldn't be the same with just another high end cable upgrade. Hopefully more folks will try other pairings and report back. Seems like its quite sensitive to tweaking.
I have Venom paired to MM and love it. Great cable. Have to try it with Singularity when I get home next week. Currently I have OTL paired with Singularity and love it!

Hard to beat Ronin soundstage. Its so spacious! Somehow reminds me of HD800s with better bass and less sterile.

Still adjusting to the external amp life. I had a quality of life improvement by adding this Van Nueys case! It's a new product called the Majic System Case (link)

The parts build connect together with Velcro. Extra accessories like a head stopper and chain can be added in.

This is the configuration that I went with:

7E6B1D62-2E5E-4BEC-964E-6D5B4ECF9D60.jpeg

How to build it:
153DB0A0-9FF7-4CDD-B04F-BD222F57FFFB.jpeg

There's two main parts that wrap around the enclosure. The mid section has an area where you can attach 2 strips of Velcro. This is useful because depending on the size of a DAP + AMP, you can adjust the height accordingly. The bottom strips prevent what's inside from slipping out.

There's Velcro on each side that attach snugly.

34B4E2F3-79D7-4E1A-A19B-EF595FF8F09A.jpeg

It fits Tsuranagi + Hiby R6Pro 2 well but there's still some room on the sides.

This is where the extra accessory comes in as a secondary measure to wrap around and tie the side portion.

578AD834-9349-48FD-A60D-1807F7FFC6B5.jpeg

Final step is to attach the leather head stopper (extra accessory). I chose the one with a slit because it allows an IC and 4.4 cable to poke out. This also prevents the contents from falling out.

Use Case:
1. Walking. I was able to get short walks in with the combo. I used it with cargo pants but sling bags would probably work too.

2. Commutes. This is probably when I would use it the most when I want the highest SQ without compromises.

The mini Van Nueys briefcase is nice because it has a shoulder strap and can store this combo afterwards when I am moving around again.

I‘m wondering if stacking the Tsuranagi and the DAP doesn’t force too much on both line in / out ports due to the Brise Yatono Ultimate interconnect particular rigidity ?
Seeing your pics made me remember that when I tested the Tsu i was a bit afraid of that rigidity combined with Tsu’s line in tendency to move a bit.
You feel it’s ok ?

Nice! You have a GOAT VN collection!

I use this bag for my on-the-go setup. It can store up to three daps. I then attach one or two headphone pouches to store headphones.
