I remember PlusSound (in that they will make a cable specifically to your order)-- I was wondering more if there are any cables that come with 1/4" as a stock option (which none of the answers to my previous question do) as opposed to getting one made custom. I'm starting to think not. Even L&P cables don't have this option, which is funny to me. I might end up going with PlusSound.
Lol, I didn't specifically reference the 80s in my segment. But what I did say about the Alpha Ti got me thinking, and that led down an 80s rabbit hole.
EDIT: It's rekindling all kinds of memories of high school slow dances too...
Am I assuming correctly that's only the case for Android DAPs? (=> streaming => need for latests and greatest apps => that need better/faster OS => rinse & repeat)
the streaming element doesnt require faster cpu's...and the interface isn't taxing on the cpu either. my old aurender streamer doesnt have any lag.
it's more of a question if they're designing the best product originally or is it subpar, or did they plan to build something new every year so that they can get a new revenue stream? I do admit that it's likely difficult to get an uncompromised product given the size and power requirements of a dap
Yes, I evidently caved in and got the 8 wire Yatono. My Cleo 2 4 wire (which honestly was more than enough for me) was produced a few inches short on accident which made it incredibly annoying to use. Andrew was kind enough to let me exchange it and pay towards getting the Yatono instead.

Feel free to preach, some of us might not take any notice
I guess it depends what you are after. I’m not really sure I understand the context of Tidal’s “commercial only background” vs Qobuz’ being “audiophile oriented”. I probably don’t care either if I’m being honest.
Maybe I’m just a not-quite-audiophile with heathen taste in music
As for my statement audiophile vs. commercial (in concise form):
Qobuz was the first streaming service to offer flac quality upwards only, being the pioneer in that respect. They existed years before Tidal, almost vanished in 2015 due to financial problems but managed to survive in a last minute rescue by new funders. To date they still have the largest Hi-Res catalogue and do closely cooperate with most audiophile brands.
Tidal originally was a side project from the Wimp owners and started its service 7 years later in fall 2014. In 2015 Jay-Z took over the company and started a broad commercial campaign especially fueled in the social media and by the whole Carter/ Knowles/ Kardashian clan.
