Little story. Sold my P6Pro to Mr. Hurst a while ago and realized all I had was the $$$ LP6Ti so nothing to go traveling around with. Kept trying out various DAPS but nothing not R2R fell flat compared to what I had. Finally found a used N6iiTi here in the classifieds for a killer price and snagged it. I had a non Ti version before and loved it even though it didn't stack up to the sound of the L&Ps, but had that lovely organic R2R vibe.
I asked on the N6ii thread if there was any better APPs to listen besides the Hiby and Cayin ones. jlemaster1957 suggested I try the UAPP. Guys, this was the best $8.50 I EVER spent on this hobby. Completely transformed the audio on the N6iiTi. Resolution took a huge leap forward, bringing this lovely DAP much closer to L&P territory. Seems the app bypasses the Android garbage and is able to access the music right off the SD card. Evidently does good things to streaming too. Anyhoo, if you have a DAP that uses Android, GET THIS. You'll thank jlemaster1957 and me later.....
UAPP is Dope. Good that you found out about it.

Morning all, departing this morning for Japan for my first vacation in…a very very long time. Packed some audio gear for the trip. Chilling in the lounge, looking forward to the JAL food 😃

Safe Travels! HM1000 Gold and M6U?

On DX320X Uapp isn’t doing much magic, but Ibasso mango mode is dope. Pure music if you have some hires files or ripped wavs (I have both and tested both)
Qobuz is just right, for on the go I download everything to make sure I have most of my fav tunes with me.

I am totally in non-android world now, both my W1A and RS2 is not used to stream (and RS2 is simply can't).

Anyone know why tidal sounds really bad via uapp ?!? I think it has something to do with mqa ?!? I'm playing through hiby rs8
Strange, Tidal sounds great with UAPP + RS8. Try non-MQA stuff and see if it makes a difference. Sounds better than the tidal app to me.

Yes----it's much better. And there is a decent 10 band parametric add on. But I'm much happier using my Yinlumei W1 portable( transportable) Windows DAP. I can use Audirvana and studio grade plugins. I got rid of my good desktop setup.

A bit more expensive than plastic dust covers but couldn’t resist blinging up my Cayins 🤭

Cayin Custom Headphone Jack Dust Plug
PVD gold plated brass.

The engraved pattern is borrowed from the volume control knob on N8ii and N7

Couldn’t resist and looks like 17 others too, LOL. Comes in a set of 4.4 and 3.5.

US $14.99 | Cayin P35A P44A Custom 3.5mm and 4.4mm Headphone Jack Dust Plug for Music Players N7 N8II N3PRO and Amplifiers RU6 C9

I once saw similar plugs from Cardas, but only for RCA. It is a pity that now there is something similar only from Cayin.
It's a bit strange to me that they are completely metal. I mean, they could short-circuit the contacts inside or something. After all, metal won't stick to the surface as tightly as, say, rubber would.

Or maybe I'm wrong and there's someone else who does this kind of thing?

You bought the MQA add-in, right? Otherwise you are just doing the first unfold in software, and not using the final hardware renderer.

I’m going to be contrarian: when I first got my N8ii it was all about UAPP. Lately? It’s ugly as sin and as about as non-intuitive as can be, but I’m gonna Champion the Neutron App. Don’t get me wrong, UAPP ain’t going anywhere, but Neutron is a keeper too.
