didn't do with the same with the MEST MKII, which for all intents and purposes I think are fantastic in terms of sound, but the fit issues are tricky and I still wasn't 100% sure if I was really taking full advantage of the bone conduction. All I needed was a few songs to get a real comparison, but I'd say they're like a MEST MKII with a slightly dialed back treble and increased bass, which I don't mind. "Increased" is a little vague and I don't have an FR graph to go off of, so I could be completely wrong comparing them, but I'll say that the bass is more present to my ears at equal or lower volumes. I've tried a variety of genres thus far and none of them sound out of place, so peoples' assertions that it's an all-rounder seem to be on point.
Exactly how I felt about ext. I felt they sounded very similar to mest mk2 except up top where I felt they lacked comparitively speaking. But subbass was very similar and midrange the ext topped the mest imo but with the treble as "dark" or "less air" I felt I had lost something after listening to the mest mk2 for so long.

I found some similarities with Mest Mk2 too but EXT is far better imho, mids are better and highs aren’t as Mest mk2

Listening again Qdc DMAGIC 3D with Gryphon and I can’t understand why this iem hasn’t got a good attention,
@Charlyro222 how is going with DMagic? Wich source/amp did you chose for it?
Totally agree with you, I´m using Dethonray Honey H1 with Dmagic and after 24h burn in is getting better and better, love the 3 DD texture.

MEST (either one) and EXT may share some superficial similarities but in essence it would be harder to find more different IEMs. The MEST II feels more like the 4th Frontier Series IEM who was kicked out of the band for having no real personality.

Had a pleasant walk. Eye candy while listening to music. A few more including a neighborhood shot in East Vancouver:

You may be the only Watercooler representative at CJ SG...would love it if you could share some pictures and impressions :)
Will be happy to share photos but my impressions are awful. And they are very coloured by the music I listen to. If there are special requests for me to get or try anything, just pm me and I’ll do my best (no guarantees tho 😅)

That's actually a good way to describe it. I don't want to be unfair to the MEST MKII either because it's objectively really good. The NE4 just has a lot more personality in my short time with it. It's really impressive how much they can pack into such a small shell.

Unrelated, do any of you all use the Gryphon as a desktop DAC/amp of sorts? It seems like it ticks a lot of the boxes and could easily drive my my pair of over-ears as well while being fairly portable. Just pondering on it a bit.

You should try. It will improve your audiophile vocabulary. You can start with something as simple as this. This sounds good and this sucks or this sounds good, but this sounds better. Start evaluating music like an optometrist does. Does this sound better or does this sound better? Or, no difference. Then, what happens is you start noticing patterns and things that remind you of other things and you are well on your way.

Agree with what @HiFiHawaii808 said. I for one would be interested to hear your thoughts for the genres that you listen to. At the end of the day though, this is a hobby. Have fun and if you feel like sharing what sounds "right" to you, feel free.
