Just finished doing a quick listen on the cables that I have, and most of them have one or two things in common, that which is it gives a louder sound volume and reduced treble response, all of them sound a bit smoother compared to the stock wire that I ultimately went back on using silicon tips for the test (spinfit 145 and stock tips). Most of the cables actually degrades the sound specially the treble. Surprisingly the cable that actually sounds the best and closer to the stock cable is the stock mmcx cable that is on my Toneking Ty2 pro, My guess is that both of them uses the same type of wire (6n single crystal spc) but the ty2 pro cable are slightly thicker. I think I need a cable like the nicehck c4-1 to get back the treble up and better resolution. I will also try to fix the stock cable of sw iii to be mmcx removable so that I could complete this experiment.

Edit: after more critical listening, I realize some of the cables retains the treble response ( some even more harsh) and resolution of the sw iii, and although the ty2 pro cable retains mostly the stock sound sig, the details isnt as good as the default wire. In my small collection of budget cables, only the **** yyx4887 is substantially better than the stock one. Bass response has more layer, vocals have now more weight to them specially female vocals, treble more or less remains the same, I can still find it fatiguing on some songs. Also a bit better on microdetail retrieval and imaging.

Also, replacing the stock mesh gives a better midrange response. You could either use the 4.3mm, 4.7mm and 5mm variant. Dont use the 4.8mm, it got a different hole pattern which recess the mids.

New toneking earbud looks dope1882510767-1905902145.jpg395452031-531397321.jpg-978656497-150719833.jpg

Seems it uses a Titanium dome driver.

I've tried a few Titanium sets (Audiosense AQ7, SMABAT ST10S Black Gold, DUNU DM-480), they are very fast in transients but a few of em had poor timbre unfortunately, so trade offs may happen I guess.

The colour is also rather unique, I wouldn't dare to wear it outside TBH haha.

Its a triple driver setup

Edit: its not a triple driver but rather a triple diaphragm, my bad, they showed some graphs too and it looks good

Although its tempting, ill still wait for their Ninetail successor.

Unfortunately we can't tell timbre of instruments from the graph. Graph looks nice though.

But thanks for the headsup. I'll definitely get a Ninetail successor (if it ever comes out)!

Imho Toneking never fails me in terms of timbre, its the company's strong point. So I got high hopes for this, about the Ninetail upgrade, toneking doesnt tell me any details when it will be released but Im expecting it soon.

Mine has three bore holes and what may very well be one vent on top of each earpiece just in front of the cable connection spot, quite small but visible and tactile

Hrm. I'm wondering if they made another one of their quiet changes. Mine has 2 bore holes and no vent. I tried to take some pics to show. I'm wondering if there's a difference in sound?

There is and it looks legit:
I also spoke to the buyer who showed me the receipt from Penon Audio 6/2018 so it's an older model.
Edit: If you look at the pics on Penon there's only ONE hole so I don't know. But it also might just be a display model but it looks like there's internals....
