Nobody's mentioning the Sabre dac in this $55,000 bit of kit?

this is whats making me wonder, people say that multibit dacs are the best realistic and natural sounding, so why would the best headphone in the world be accompanied by a delta sigma ESS?

My best friend and I are definitely buying this, no matter what! (Just not quite sure when...)

Concerning the pricing issues... Relatively speaking, this is far less costly than the most expensive speaker systems. Luckily, I prefer headphones over speakers. Either way, I don't care what it costs to get ultimate sound. Not many individuals have such an uncompromising approach, and this is fine. You can immensely enjoy music with all sorts of affordable gear, after all. But this is a luxury statement product made for a select few. Criticizing the price accomplishes nothing. Everyone already knows that most people cannot or will not buy it.

2.) The headphone cable looks like it's detachable from the headphones. (I'm assuming you can at least detach the termination end from the HEV 1060.) Is it? What would be the estimated cost for a replacement cable?

Well considering that Sennheiser offers a cable for the hd800 for roughly 20% of the cost of the headphone, I'd guess about $11,000 on the replacement cable for the he1060.

The true endgame. Once you get this you can totally quit head-fi.

...for 5-10 years maybe.

If this piece is showing up anywhere here in the NYC area, I'm gonna line up to at least listen to it.
My better half already OK'd the purchase ... in case we do hit the jackpot

I could not afford this but would pay money just to have 30 minutes with it... like a high-end "escort" service I guess.

Nice video as always. But the Stax compare should have been left out. I get that comparing to another company is natural and that jude's comparison was brief but it was very one sided. What was the sr-009 amp and source? Price to performance? Omega/T2/Stax dac of yore?

Just me but I think if the sr-009 had a synergistic $20k TT setup, kgsshv carbon and some direct to disc records and the tables would be turned, for half the price.

I'm not worried about the price. I shall wait for the review that compared the HE1060 to the HD598 and gave the edge to the 598, stating that some headphones are overpriced.

I'm sticking with these - who needs an Orpheus Mk2 when you have these beauties?

So, delta-sigma DAC (albeit a decent one) in a 50K system... They could take a lesson or two from Schiit folks.
