Looks like $999

Yep, looks like the audiophile DAP industry has finally gone summit-fi. I guess it had to happen eventually. Wonder how long it will be before we start seeing dedicated DAP threads in the summit-fi forum

Yeah, sadface. I was hoping it would be a bit more affordable. Ah well.

Actually thanks for reminding me, I need to send a message to people in the area about maybe having a portable rig group for local Head-Fi meets. Most of the folks here have gigantic desktop/home setups.

If it was priced around 500 USD, I am sure they would sell it like cupcakes. For 1k, I am not sure how many people would bite it. Cowon has been missing in this industry for a long time. I understand they want to come back but they need to earn audiophiles trust again and this comes with quality, not trying to be another iGreedy brand.

Cowon have been losing money for years.....looks like they are resorting to Altmann pricing to try and recover!

"My plan will be
Config (1) -- Smartphone DAC with 3000mAH+ battery, DSD2+384K/32, powerful headphone output
Config (2) -- All above, thicker chassis, DAP, communicate via BT with Smartphone and some physical buttons.
128G ~ 512G SD storage. Maybe mSATA to even higher storage"

Thats the Geek guys throw their hats in the ring. Should be affordable though going by their previous campaigns but be prepared for a long wait.

On the positive side, their Chief Engineer seems to have a very good resume and knows what he is doing.

Yep that's what I thought, no one has a clue about the price.

Well in that case I'm taking the positive note and speculating they will be giving them away for free to establish a following in order to sell the second generation player at a huge profit.
