Talking about cable, man do i love the good ol' Penon OS819. Although it does not go with the aesthetic of my Tea Pro, far from it, it just works. It's light, non-stiff and just overall very comfortable. Way better than the Tea Pro stock cable for sure. Heck, it's even more comfortable than my Penon OCC849 lol

Ofcourse. Although, being old is not a reason for hearing a difference in cables, younger people into the hobby can still attest to not having hearing drastic changes to the sound of their gear. Happy for those who can and spend a lot of money to get the sound they want. Not for me though.
Famous Last Words. I said that, too.

Shock for experiencing music as a fully coherent whole, with outstanding bass and spatial cues bringing it all together.

EBC80 for listening to music, with more detail and sharpness on the mids but with the bass sitting more in the background and less soundstage coherence.

For me, Shock every day, all day.
What settings do you like on your shock? Are you using the stock cables?

Been listening to archangel for a couple of days now. Maybe the best bass of the ones I’ve been testing against which include voltage, ebc80 and shock. Overall sound is nearing voltage level. Based on price of the two, I’d go with archangel, especially if bass is a big factor in sound signature preferred. Tuning is more mature over ebc80, especially the bass. Overall sound is like the shock if the shocks got an upgrade in sound. I still think all of these sound so nice that I’d be happy with any of them. EBC80 has that wow factor still and to me is addicting. If I were to recommend any of these except voltage since the other ones are similar in price, I’d choose archangel without hesitation though.

Agreed. The Archangel is special. For it's asking price, it can play with kilobuck IEMs. I know. I just pitted them against several.

I don't use the stock cable. It doesn't behave well while I'm using it. Settings i use is 4.5 bass (yellow dial) and 3 treble (brown dial)
Thanks! May I ask which cable you chose?

I've publish my review of the super addictive ISN EBC80.

You can give a check here: https://www.head-fi.org/showcase/isn-audio-ebc80.27750/reviews#review-37866

I compare it to UM Mext, BGVP Phantom and Soundrhyme DTE900.

''Nothing sound like those, which to me boost the validity and recommendation of an IEM, in a world where safe and harman tuning all sound the same the EBC80 are a statement of difference, of boldness, of creative musical vision.

The fact we have warmth and crispness cohabiting in same tonality, as well as bone conduction pushing fowards the presence and clarity of instrument and vocal, make the EBC80 versatile as well as reaching this fine musical meet technical balance I always crave for.

The bass is impactfull, round, dense and vibrant and this is already special thanks to dual face 2DD used, the mids are anamorphic, wide and focused, lush and effortlessly multi layered without sounding too bright or clinicaly forced- something impossible to achieve without the help of sonion BCD, then the treble surprise us with it's delicate vivacity, extra sens of airy layer and addictive brilliance that benefit guitar, percussions, harp and clavichord.

At they end, even if technicaly more than capable, EBC80 is a musical sounding set first and foremost, aiming for highest sens of immersivity without overly emphasized frequencies range that can distract listener from main instrument and vocal of it's music.

EBC80 is an IEM that feel like going to IMAX movie, the sound experience is grand in macro dynamic rendering, and for once we can say we have ''4 dimension'' sound rendering since 4th dimension is in your head while 3D openess out of it.''

Your comparison against the DTE900 is spot on. Very nicely described. Both have their place in a collection.

tx yes indeed, 2 very different sound flavor and the proof more EST is always beneficial...2EST is less energic and well define in micro dynamic, but i love quite alot of tribrid with 2EST like Soundrhyme DTE500 is a BIG crush, Penon 10th too.....Kinera Urd less so.

anybody have heard Soundrhyme DTE264?

graph scare me a bit, hard to figure out how it will sound....but one thing sure, its not similar to my beloved DTE500, which is more on line with Penon EBC80 graph it seem (just see this) but without BC and less round thick punchy bass.
