Synergy. Man that means soooo much in this hobby. Sold my AUR Aure and had extra cables to switch around so I put my TOTL XINHS silver/heavy gold plated cable on the Serial and also tried the stock tips from the Aure, which I love, and BOOM- sonic bliss. So much better resolution, bass still full, still the same "analog" vibe but more refined, fuller , richer, bigger. HUGE stage.
I love this hobby :xf_cool:
May i ask for the picture of the Xinhs cable you mentioned please?

So I've just recently been seeing mention of the 'purple plug'... So I went to Penon's site, and lo and behold, there it is, a 4.4 plug all by itself. Does this 4.4 plug really affect sound in a noticeable way? I may need to get one in and play around with it on a couple different cables / IEMs.
It depends on the sources you use and the needs of extra power for your headphones. For example, WM1A 4.4 output sounds with higher quality and different sound signature, more neutral-warm, while 3.5 is more U-shaped. Other sources may sound the opposite, worse with 4.4. However, the benefit of 4.4 is that you can still switch to 3.5 output by an adapter.

Has anyone else compared Penon Tail to something like the Truthear Shio? Seen a couple people mention them with a little favor to the Penon, and just curious if there are others who've used both. Liking the Shio so far but the Tail is more attractive, has the dedicated play/pause button, and is a good deal when accounting for the additional cables it can include.

I am also intrigued by the current Fan 2 discount...
@Leonarfd has the impressions

I always thought my first Penon IEM would be the Serial... But it seems it will be the FAN2!
Or the Vortex, No Wrong answer actually. As long as you love your Mids, any Penon set is a winner...

The ISN Neo 5:
DSC_0002.jpegqwqw.jpeg

Taking a philosophical design perspective, the ISN Neo 5 is much in many ways a combination of winning ideas. While most like the Globe, the ISN Neo 5 moves ahead with a stainless steel nozzle like the Fan series. Then absolutely see-through like the ORB, the Neo 5 really takes ideas from past successes.

First row: Penon Globe, Penon ORB and ISN Neo 5
Second row: ISN EST50 and Fan 1

Partial review example:

Treble and midrage completeness:
The tuning trick, that ends as departure from previous ISN modes centers around seemingly breaking the rules! Yep, this is a new sound and is from very different tuning understanding, as to the right way to tune an IEM. While going ahead and matching the 4.6kHz gain identical to the Serial, they then went one step further into the weirdness of a 6kHz bump.............instead of the regular recess.

1) Now to start with the 4.6kHz lift is still going to sound different than the Serial due to the use of Knowles BAs and not the smaller DD of the Serial. They are taking what’s famous with the 3DD Serial and adding to the ideas.

2) While we find the 6kHz and secondary 7kHz peak of lesser energy of than the 4.6kHz, that is still a departure and I’m going to get to what it does.

Typically the anti-sibilance or presence region of 6kHz has been used to do just that, diminish sibilance. But a tune if structured right this peak actually off-sets the bass energy and creates balance. You need a deep low end, and while we are more of a middle bass emphasis rather than a sub-bass tune, this regular bass is off-set by the clarity the 6kHz bump and (what the) 7kHz bump bring to the table. Now all this talk of bumps may have you believe this tune is somehow pieced together and is a patchwork of sorts? Where nothing could be farther from the truth, here we are met with heavy bass, but the mids and top end are dovetailed together to form the most beautiful example of simplicity. You see this presence region is doing its job to actually promote a new style of presence………hence the name Neo 5. It’s a new day for ISN and I feel I really don’t want to compare it to past IEMs………..all except one more. The Globe is very much an inspiration for the Neo 5. Reason being is form, I have said this numerous times before that the extra depth thickness of the Penon Globe, instead of wideness, gives it a unique shape. Such a shape you will note upon first seeing the Globe, as it’s simply different. The Neo 5 takes those form factor ideas and actually improves on them. The Neo 5 is absolutely one of the best fitting IEMs I have ever come across. Now fit is personal, except there are basic values that fit many across the board.

Build:
There is a stainless steel nozzle port much like the ISN H50, such a device hides the out-put tubes under a wire mesh. The really good thing about the Neo 5 in that this single feature actually is better than the Globes resin nozzle, in that it hold ear-tips on in a more precision fashion. Yep, rejoice my friends in that the nozzle holds tips on in the optimal place.................in such a way you even forget to visually check after a while………perfect! This example expresses that we are simply living is the future of IEM production design, overcoming any drawback of the past. The shells offer a semi-transparent medical grade resin, when that is the name, though it is more transparent than semi-transparent. Yep, you can see every detail, every wire, every driver…….plain as day though this lightly toned resin. In many ways reminiscent of the ORB IEM. This form I would call a maximum universal custom form. Such a shape gets it’s beginnings from the ear-database........an amalgamation of thousands of ear-shapes. And while the very outer ear is indicative of the ears owner, the inside is remarkably universal in shape. Hence our ability to chose a semi-custom shape. I hate to say this as it could lead to (reader apprehension due to the sheer) questionable believability, but this is the best fitting IEM I have ever used.

The best fitting IEM I have ever used.

More to come in the full-review.......................

Just received this cable a few days ago and...oh boy am I impressed?!
This is my second cable from Penon - the OS133!
My first one was a recommended from @Dsnuts - ISN G4 which is a great cable but didn't do much justice for my ISN H50 but....OS133 is another beast. I have been using my Dunu Amber cable exclusively for this iem until I decided to go with some OFC cable from NiceHCK and I liked the result! Then just recently I ordered the OS133 and I'm really impressed - the sound of ISN H50 has become more thicker with great soundstage, more vivid and energetic. Also I switched to the new ddHifi ST35 D-tips which brings a little flavor to the low-end, this combo is just unbelievable. It just transformed this iem to a whole other level
I know it may not be a new thing for you but this cable is a real discovery for me:gs1000smile:

I haven't tried the ISN G4 with the H50, but I could imagine...too hot, same as the Penon Vocal Cable goes and pushes the natural H50 mids a little too much and thins out the bass. Where the OS133 adds that warmth to the mids and adds bass warmth. Cheers!

Is there any relation is terms of sound performance between OS133 and Space, considering the Space is literally OS133 times 2?

Yeap exactly the right definition - it becomes really hot with G4 (although it matches perfectly my FD5 single DD)
So in your opinion the Penon vocal/bass won't quite suit H50!
Maybe I could try those with FD5 or upcoming Neo 5 (just maybe?)

The Space is just 2X the material, so yes, bigger stage and roughly the same OS133 tone.

Well I haven't tried the Bass and H50 yet, but due to the similarities of the Bass Cable and Vocal Cable I would guess it would not be a choice.....but never pre-guess what a cable will do. You can always be surprised at good results. I will try the Bass Cable and Neo 5 tomorrow.

But Vocal Cable and H50 was airy but too thin, no deep lows.

OK please give some impressions for Bass cable with Neo 5!
Very much appreciated :smile_phones:
