Agree, a bit of luck is at play. Do you have Serial on your shortlist?Probably so, but you scored a really nice design. Not all of them look that good.![]()

Yeah, and I'm hoping to see the Serial on sale within 2 weeks. Linsoul, Hifigo and some others will run sale events, so maybe Penon will do the same?Agree, a bit of luck is at play. Do you have Serial on your shortlist?
I hope so for the ones looking for getting a pair. Winter is not coming yet, but listening to the Serial in a cozy atmosphere in front of the fireplace with some nice ambient music or your favorite vocalists is a great perspective.Yeah, and I'm hoping to see the Serial on sale within 2 weeks. What about the isolation of the Serial ? Do you recommend it for on the go use ?I hope so for the ones looking for getting a pair. After exclusively listening to H30 for about a week and then swapping back to others, I sort of missed the secure fit. I use Radius Deep Mount tips for Serial and H30, they’re aptly named for deep insertion fit.Hi! For me, the longest nozze is an advantage. In the Vortex for example, it is too short. Being longer, it allows a deeper insertion, and therefore less peaks of internal resonance of the treble. They also stay better in the ear. For me they are the ones that have the best fit of all the penons that I have, but of course it is also a risk that they do not suit all types of inner ears.
That EST50 is the muthaluvin TRUTH... (just sayin)Well, I bought the ISN EST50 soley on dsnuts review and I love it! Also I think you are being a little harsh on Penon, their IEMs sound great!
Listening to Serial and a bit mad, but mostly in love. Mad only because Serial performs on a level that competes for my pleasure with earphones costing much more. These guys hit everything so well, a true joy to listen to. These could easily be the end of the journey but I guess one must kiss all the frogs, beautiful and otherwise to know what love is. I am crushing hard.
HGH. You are a credit to the hobby and I do enjoy reading all your posts/reviews. Keep up to great work and don't let haters dampen your enthusiasm for the hobby. The world will be a an emptier place without your contributions!Ok so here goes my story of my relationship with Penon. Just so you guys know.
Penon has been in business for a while and for me anyways I have bought numerous cables, amps daps and IEMs from them. I bought a lot of stuff from them over the years as I have always had excellent fast shipping from them while most vendors on aliexpress is a crap shoot when you will get your stuff. So I have always preferred getting stuff from Penon. If you don't believe me you can start reading the discovery thread and you will see numerous posts years back of when I bought stuff from them. I don't know if any of you guys remember getting that Christmas card from Penon. I remember one year I got a scarf from them. Out of all the stuff I have bought over the years I can't ever recall a vendor sending me a nice Christmas card or a scarf for that matter. I still have the scarf. Yes this was way before I became a reviewer for them.
You all know I have been a member of headfi since 2011. I have been doing reviews of random headphones and amps and such I bought and that is how I started with my reviews. You guys know I started the discovery thread which is still one of the most viewed and ongoing threads on headfi. Yes, I have some influence on the threads and I think Penon recognized that, so they had me write a few reviews for them and it started like that. Guys that have known me through the years know me for leading the charge when it comes to new underrated audio goods that no one was talking about. I am proud to say the discovery thread is responsible for introducing a LOT of the IEMs people are using today. That thread is still going strong with no end in sight. With over 8 million views yes, the discovery thread has some influence.
Even before I started reviewing. I was always attracted to the positive stand up people and we have far more of these types of people on the threads that are willing to give their input to help others achieve whatever they are looking for. Well with a few exceptions. If you guys don't know yet. Penon is good people.. Many of you guys have posted about how you have became a fan of Penons IEMs. You're looking at the number one fan right here. Penon does an honest business. Something I can't say about a lot of vendors on Aliexpress. I am guilty of associating with a Chinese vendor. When they are standup good people like Penon. Why not?
I will clearly admit I am their biggest FAN and supporter and if you say that is shilling, then I am guilty. But also know I have spent more money than any of you all out of my own pocket buying numerous wares from them. Because I applaud greatness and folks that do things the right way. I would like nothing more than to see these guys become a force in the industry. You know why? It is because they do it right. They care for their patrons. They put care into every item they make. If you don't know that about them by now. Just compare what they do with others on the webs. I am proud to write a few reviews for Penon and I wear that with a badge of honor.
When I post about an item on the pages of headfi. It is because they are worthy of your attention. I am not gonna come out and say something is good and have it not be good. I write reviews for a whole bunch of companies that send me their stuff for evaluation. If you guys read my reviews I will tell you what is good about it and what isnt. The stuff that you don't read from me is because I reject them. To me it isn't worth my time to do a review for an item if I feel the item is not worthy. If you actually read what I have to say about an Item I tell you what sound profile the tuning is. For the ISN H30 and the Fan2 they are clearly neutral tuned IEMs. So going into a purchase thinking they will be bass head IEMs is foolish is my point.
If Penon makes an Item I don't care for. I will clearly tell you all but that is far from the case. I honestly don't recall an item they have made that is not worthy, if not some of the best in the industry at the price points the item sells for. Believe me, I own and have heard way more earphones than you. You get a good sense of what value a sound is just by hearing it after hearing over 200-300plus IEMs at all different price points. I have lost count actually; it could be more than that.
I know for a fact that Penon does not sell an item if they feel it does not have any value. Penon is a smaller company headed by a brilliant tuner/ designer. If you guys follow their Facebook page you will know him as Mr. Chi Kong Hui. I call this guy the Ken Ball of Hong Kong.
He is solely responsible for teaching me a LOT about audio. And more importantly how to be a standup person. These guys have a clear philosophy on what they do. There is no fishiness or some strange business tactics they incorporate to somehow doing it all for the money grab. That is not what they do. My role in all this? I write reviews for Penon and I will tell you what the items are about. In the end you make the decision to support and try out that item or not. You all are grownups. I don't make a single dime on anything I post about or review about. In fact I dont know if you guys know but I only post on headfi and nowhere else. I dont blog or even have a instaham or tweeter account. To be honest I couldn't care less for the review items. I have personally purchased more IEMs than I can count and own a boat load of stuff. So what is yet another IEM to me?
I don't write reviews of stuff for any type of gain. No need for any of it. I am too busy at work to be writing reviews but I manage to find time during my 1 hour lunch break. I am writing review stuff every day at work as I have no time at home. Since I was comparing and giving my impressions of IEMs so many times over and over again on the threads. I might as well put that in writing was my thought. If you guys think writing reviews and talking about the finer points of sound is easy. You guys have no idea the time it takes to really try to convey what an item sounds like so others can understand. Is it worth it? Not when I get called a shill and folks blab foolishly about a neutral tuning lacking bass. Lol.
Someone had to post about what new stuff is about, to inform everyone and I was chosen to do that. So, you guys can look at me as the messenger and nothing more. I am not affiliated with Penon. I work a 9-5 job just like you guys. I am in the health care industry and am a devoted father of two young men and a wife who continually nags about why I keep on getting packages from China. I consider it a blessing that I am in the situation I am. I am an enthusiasts first and just know I will not put false information about anything I hear and write about.
Look I am no longer female, I am a fat sumo dude.
I have a secure fit and therefore a very good isolation with the Serial. You might need to play with tips to further improve isolation. What about the isolation of the Serial ? Do you recommend it for on the go use ?

I missed the BS, as it was removed before I read anything. With that said........ @Dsnuts you are a single special entity which somehow is able to hear these IEMs and describe them like no other! My mentor!HGH. You are a credit to the hobby and I do enjoy reading all your posts/reviews. Keep up to great work and don't let haters dampen your enthusiasm for the hobby. Take care @Dsnuts!
Wow, that's a great finish! Congrats. I like the "improved" silver letters more too. I've received my black lettered one a few days before announcement of this version.I like the silver text on mine… question of taste

I have already asked Penon and they do not do Nov sales.Yeah, and I'm hoping to see the Serial on sale within 2 weeks. Linsoul, Hifigo and some others will run sale events, so maybe Penon will do the same?

Some IEMs are like that. My 1670 and Sora were unbearably bright from zero. Past 200 h, they started to sound more natural. Past 500 h all those treble peaks were gone.I always give my gear some very good time to burn in and adjust my own impression, I remember getting the Verite and found them a tad to bright. Some burn in and ear time and its one of the best audio experience I have had.
