A buddy is seeing these ladies in Alcata, California tonight. Right now he's sitting at a table with them and chatting.

Solid, heavy psych from 4 sisters from Australia. Probably a better 70's vibe than Old Blood, and a great double-set with Ruby the Hatchet!

Ha!

Before I lose ALL credibility, after going deeper into their catalog, Stonefield is definitely a pop-band with some heavy/stoner/psych overtones. But there's no way to take their music, or their videos, as anything other than 'cute.'

Nothing wrong with cute (and they are WAY cute). For example:

But it's nowhere near traditional, or any other 'metal'

Nice one! Which headphones are those?

Meze Neo 99's. You know, I LOVE using Sonarworks Reference 4 software with, well, every headphone listed in my sig. Except the Meze, which have just enough bass boost/bloom to sound awesome at low/moderate volume. I LOVE these headphones. Everything I've heard from Meze has been stellar, mostly in their simple, practical approach to just sounding good.

Oh and Spaceslug, well, they're a whole new addiction for me. Checking my Roon history, I listen to Spaceslug more than anything else...

Meze 99s vs HD6xx for metal?

Overall.....HD6XX. Untouchable by anything in their price-range, assuming good source and amplification. With Reference 4 calibration, they are definitley world-class giant killers.

Portable rig: computer, iPad, or phone? Meze all the way. Ridiculously good.

But the BEAST, the KING in my collection for metal? Mr. Speakers Alpha Primes.

But that's just for metal. For everything else under the sun, HD 800S's rule.

HD800s......Everytime I convince myself to grab a pair Im reminded of how brutal Beyer T1s were on less-than pristine recorded/mastered music...It got to a point where I was skipping more than half of my collection because the T1s rubbed shoddy studio work in your face....but when all the stars aligned just right it was an amazing experience.

Interesting on the APs...never heard them prior.Had a pair of Aeon Flow Closed in for a review last week and they were tonally amazing, but so bass light :frowning2:

Dude. I've never heard the T1, but I've also never read a comparison that stated they sound anything like the HD-800S. For a TOTL can, they are slightly, and I do mean slightly, on the warm side.

Yeah,no i was referring to the first iteration for both. Both are extremely detailed with a holographic presentation, brutal on crappy recordings, bright and mile wide sound stages.

I havent heard either the new HD800 nor T1.2

Ive read more than once around here that a "well modded" HD800 is better than a HD800S...IDK.
I have made a vow to steer clear of headphones that require modding to sound acceptable, after my nightmare with the HE6.
