Here's # 3334. I have been enjoying them from the first day of owning them

When I have the donuts on the 325i, the sound stage and image is pretty close to the GS1000, but the 325i is still behind on the level of refinement. The 325i and GS1000 have different signature, like steel guitar vs. acoustic guitar, respectively. However, the level of detail of the 325i on the donut pads made me wonder if there was a possibility that these phones used the same drivers...or slightly tweaked?

No. I don't like the combination of 325i and GS1000 pads. The high is extended to the point of sibilant, and the "Onstage" intimacy is gone.

I own a pair. However, I subsequently purchased a pair of HD650s, then added an Equinox cable; my 325i phones have been sitting packed away for quite some time. I like the 325i Grados; however, I find I do most of my headphone listening at work; the Senns are a much better fit in that environment.

Next weekend you should let them out for some fun... or they will die.

IMO, the 325is and HD650s are great compliments to one another:

Oh man. And i ordered those pads yesterday. Oh well i guess i can write a nice review on the differences when i get them.

And just to add fuel to the flame of speculation that the drivers could be the same, check this out...

The only huge difference seems to be the monster bass. Wow.

You might like donut pads with your own rig. Each setup might give different results. My level of sibilant might be very well acceptable for others. The donuts pads would make the 325i another wild animal.

I bought the RS-1 and sold the 325i. It's not that I would swap back, I LOVE the RS-1. But I miss having the 325i sound at my fingertips. I thought the RS-1 would be a "replacement" for the 325i, but I've come to realize that that isn't the case.

The RS-1 sound was clearly superior to me, but the 325i sound is uniquely awesome, and a fantastic value (I can so see myself picking up another pair, I need to stop buying headphones....)
