Interesting discussion but I do agree with @twister6 about 1z have a slight boost in treble energy... its not a problem but its there.
All other daps when I tried them they seemed to be treble flat sort off cause of that...

But its like all things you gota find the perfect synergy.
You could also play with tip rolling and cables...

Lately I bought spiral dots ++ and to my surprise they reduced treble a lot and made the sound signature very smoothe and rubbery lol. I know its weird to say that but when I compared them visually vs the 64a stock tips. They felt stiffer and spiral dots++ are very rubbery and gentle they are soft.

That softness made me perceive the sound being soft and rubbery haha.

I do prefer the stock 64a tips. They are the ones that make sound to be as pure and unaltered as it can be, among all tips I tried!

Treble is direct and shimmery. Bass is rumbly and visceral.
Its just like a straight sound right into your ears.

The reason for this is cause the tip is on same length as the bore edge... also a little stiffer silicone type, all that makes it a perfect tip I think

You can see I also added a mod I cut out trimmed a comply foam and placed it behind the sleeve so I get maximum isolation and comfort. Works like a charm!

But how does the tip stick to the comply? Why not just use simbio tips if that's your goal?

I tried I dont like symbio.
To bright and silicone is very stiff hurts my ears overtime...
Also I said it they are not flush with the bore. That hugely alters the sound and not in a way I like it!

64a stock tips are the only one that can be flush actually!

Also comply foam is higher technology vs symbio foam.

Complys foam when sense the heat of your body take the exact shape with it. Symbio does it but not as well and it stays stiffer.
So I like comply foam much better its softer, and no outward pressure...

Thats my setup you can play with it as you wish . All options are good as long you like the results...

The comply foam isnr glued or stuffed in. I trimmed it and cut till it fits perfectly.
And its held by it self...

I agree with your assessment of Symbio. I do not like them on my Angie Universal. The 64 Audio tips on my Tia Trio sound better to me than others.

Ok here enjoy I made all angles so you can see it clearly.
I also shown 1 with spiral dots++ and you can see easily that its way higher then the bore vs the oem tip. All those things affects sound.

You can also see I have added a sticky foam underneet my iem that makes them feel more comfy and like pillows! And it removes all soars and panes. I ware my iems for 5 hours a day and I also in a shaky and very loud environment so I have to be creative.
With all this tweaks I can be happy and in comfort with max sq.

Interesting. I recently got the spiral dots ++ and actually put a spacer behind them so I could get them to seat deeper in my ear but never thought of trying to get tip of the bore flush to the nd of the ear tip.
I never even bother trying the stock tips these days but maybe I should.

On another note, I’m on week two with the U12t and I fell asleep with them on last night until the last track from Max Richter’s Three Worlds woke me with Gillian Anderson’s reading of Virginia Woolf's haunting last words. It was so real sounding that it was uncanny and particularly moving and unsettling. I think I was confused for a second thinking someone was actually speaking to me. I am constantly amazed at these iems...

As much as I would like to hear the Tia Trio, now that I've acclimated to the U12t, these are the best iems for what I like and what I listen to I've heard to date. Bass isn't the most important to me and though I really enjoyed the LegendX bass, I can't get over how much bass there is in the U12t.. The only small problem with the U12t bass though is that it can be uneven, as if it has resonant frequencies that get boosted where others are not. Or maybe it's just the resonance, not so much the actual note. It's not terrible but it kinda results in a bit of lack of definition and the mentioned uneven character.. Mostly this doesn't happen but it's noticeable in Max Richter's Sleep. Can't remember if this was the actual track I heard it in..

The LX really pushed the bass on these tracks.. some times a little bit to the detriment of the rest..

With my A12 / U12, I have exactly the same feeling. This is the only small problem with it.
Effect Audio Ares II 8-Wire cable helps to reduce this 'resonant frequency boost' feeling. But still noticeable.

It’s called the FiR M5 :p All jokes aside, looking forward to seeing 64audio get into that territory if that’s something they decide to do. No new details on the A18s or that new IEM they showed off at CanJam Shanghai(?) late last year.

A18s? This is why I haven't pulled the trigger on a hybrid, with the cost of these totl iems nowadays I'm waiting at least for all the big players to put out hybrids and preferably ee/dd/ba hybrids
