No worries.

The Final Type Es are smallish/olive shape (bit like the old Shure olives) so they fit quite deep, whereas the Spinfits are larger/have a larger bore size. So depends on the shape of your earholes as to which will give you a better fit.
I've done a small amount of tip rolling so I get what you're talking about. I might have to pass on the Spinfits then as I find a deep fit a bit more comfortable.

Yep I get you. All the other suggestions from everyone are great ones as well. That's the thing with tip rolling; you don't have to spend a whole lot of extra cash to get the fit you want or tweak the sound a bit Vs, say, cable rolling.

I'm sure you'll love the U12t to bits 👍

and what sound one may prefer too... material and related thickness and rigidity, size and share of borehole, depth of insertion, length of tip over the end of the sprouts, etc.. add also to quite a bit of coloring in addition to fit and seal

U12T have LID tech... cable rolling will not make much difference as LID will adjust the impedance anyway.
I tried and I cannot hear any difference cable-rolling wise.

In theory.

In practice, I hear a noticeable difference between the stock cable and a very thin cable from Dr Juggles that my friend gave me. After testing this and that, I’m back to the stock cable 😂 comfortable, stealthy, and wide compatibility (3.5mm jack)

Afaik, LID ensures that the impedance curve is flat rather than going all over the place like some other sensitive IEM, which is helpful. I’m setting an impedance measurement setup to test this claim

A would guess a very thin cable is a bit of an extreme case ... :L3000: ... anyway I also really like the stock cable too (and Kbear cables sound really good, practically the same, as well)

This is a massive tread. I recently got the u12t and I’m very happy with the sound. Very mature tuning with excellent resolution. Would it benefit much from a dap? I’m currently using an apple dongle
It would, very much so. I shudder to think how much more of the U12t's sound potential you'll hear with a good DAP. Apple dongle has lovely tonality but is quite limited technically.

El

what is considered a good dap? Anything that matches with the u12t particularly good?
I'll quote myself...
"Depends on your tastes. Like analog lushness,? then the Hiby RS6, Hyper detail? then the iBasso 240 or the 320, Smooth? the A&K SR35, etc."

Lots of options out there, but given you have a $2000 iem, my advice - don't cheap out. Really I'd be looking at something between $750 and $1500, besides the brands above there are offerings from Sony, Cayin, Shanling, Lotoo etc. Read comments on this topic and others for something that aligns with your music tastes. Review sites like Twister6 are another resource.
(For my U12T, I use the following pop and rock Sony WM1A, vocal, EDM & faster music AK SP2000, 'spacious experimental', jazz and classical -Hiby RS6 & Hickman R2R2000, non-critical listening (yeah we all do it) AK SA700 (an older model). As you can see different tastes...

the A&K SR35, etc."
When I owned the U12t I used the SR35. It had plenty of power to make the U12t sound really good. It is also a Roon endpoint which was important to me. The price for an A&K is also very friendly. I moved away from the U12t to try other iems but now am coming back. I have an A12t on order with delivery in about 3 weeks. My first try at a ciem.

I'd probably consider a 2nd hand AK SP2000, which you'll almost certainly get for a pretty decent price. I've had mine for a couple of yrs now & sounds mint with the U12t (or anything else for that matter).

Edit to add - But it is a bit of a brick weighing a bit under a pound (~410gm). So you might want something smaller if you need portability for on the go listening; you probably need to stash the SP2000 in a backpack or whatever & feed your cables through for on the go listening.

A astell and kern se180 +sem4 is another good alternative
