I found the sound of a18s is too thick and warm, and also less clarity and detail than u12t.

I won't order another ciem again…

To me was the opposite. Sold my U18t right after purchasing the U18s. I guess I am treble sensitive and the 18s is the perfect balance for my ears, IMHO the best 64audio iem. Also tried the U12t but again, compared to the 18s was no doubt in my mind which one to keep. Its very personal, I guess you have to listen and decide for your self.

Hi 64Audio,

I'm planning for obsolescence so Plan A is to wait for the next iteration of A18*.

But if plans change before the next iteration, am I immune from LID since my whole chain runs in mOhms since then I would only be interested in a LID-less A18t (Plan B)?

My connectors paired with Official Estron should run < .5 mOhm. My DAC is about .25 mOhm.

I like to have one foot in the door in the Mastering world and one foot in the door in the Audiophile world so my chain should reflect with the DAC, cable and transducers. The A18t should have nice synergy since it is flat sounding as possible and I can do <.5ohms. I already have a fully transparent chain with no sound signature all the way up to the transducer so instead of veering off course with a non-flat transducer, I like to stay flat sounding as possible.

EDIT: It can be difficult to distinguish mOhms from ohms. mOhms is way way super less than ohms (<.5ohms requirement). It's close to zero impedance which is my goal for my whole chain starting from my Super Capacitor power supplies which run 30 times lower than the Chord TT₂ supercap power supply. It's my "Ride Off into the Sunset" rig to complete my hobby ARC, so I like to cross every "t" and dot every "i".

Using a low impedance source would not make you "immune" to LID. It's really more the opposite. LID makes you immune to change in frequency response caused by high impedance sources. So if you are using an ultra low impedance chain then you would not notice any difference between an IEM with LID and one without LID (obviously apart from the inherent differences between our different models).

That's weird, the termination looks like it is from the older premium cable which shipped with the older style packaging/accessories. But the rest of the cable looks the same as the current stock cable itself. I am also curious to see what 64Audio says.

As far as I know (or remember) our older cables that used the angled termination always had a black barrel. I believe that the previous owner of that U6t changed the termination, but I could be wrong.

You are right, just went through my photos of the older version U18t I had here and this is the old cable:

So yeah the previous owner seems to have just modded the connector, not a nice thing to sell it without warning the buyer.

I'm completely off my CIEM game since pre-COVID so LID is confusing AF. Apex should be a flatter learning curve.

The latter half of your comment was what I was initially intending to ask.

So now, I have a solid plan:

1. Plan A. Wait for A18*.
2. Plan B. Any significant downtime due to circumstances, A18t.

thanks, do you have any information on the material ? or what is the equivalence ? like oyaide straight gold or pentaconn ofc 3.5 mm ? I'm afraid that the sound that I get right now is not the same with what the engineers intended.

My Volür arrived today. Gorgeous IEM, but the treble spike is very real. Does anyone have any cable or tip suggestions for calming it down a bit, or a suggested EQ setting? Other than that I absolutely love them, but it has a bit of bite for sure.

From 64audio page, it was shipped with spinfit, probably CP 100 the same with U6T.
You need to use that spinfit and gauge what do you want to reduce and how far

CP100 has the following profile
Bass: 3.5
Midrange: 5
Treble: 4
Soundstage: 4
Vocal presence: 3.25

you just need to find eartips that is has the quality that you need, probably cp100+ (assuming it is the same with U6T)

If you wear it deeper, the treble peak is likely pushed to the upper treble region where it belongs to.

Personally, I swapped to the stock foam tips for and giggle with my U12t and ended up enjoying the sound. Smoother, more comfortable, thicker bass, without losing out on stage or resolution.
