If you're looking to save a few dollars vs U12t, then U6t is not a bad compromise at all. You sacrifice some technical performance, notably detail retrieval is not quite as good, but you get a warmer midbass tuning that makes for a more easy-going, relaxing listen.

Going in another direction could be the excellent Elysian Diva23 that can be had for around $1500 new. Again, it's not quite the technical performer as the 12t, but it's more exaggerated U-shape delivers fun bouncy sub-bass and excellent upper mids that work great especially if you listen to a lot of female vocals.

OR, if what you really want is what the 12t does, then just save a few more bucks and go for it!

What about something that is like the u12t but with a DD for the bass instead of ba? Preferably around 1500

We're really excited to finally get to share Volür with you all. For those who are curious about how the sound compares to Nio and U12t, I think the Volür is kind of the best of both worlds between the two. You get the DD slam that the Nio has, as well as the detail and highs that the U12t has (if even a little improved in my personal opinion). If you want a U12t with DD bass I strongly suggest you give Volür a listen. I think you guys are going to love it.

But but... where's the CIEM option?

No CIEM option for Volür, but our owner Vitaliy mentions in the video that he's expecting to see both the iso and waveguide tech to trickle into products in the future.
