How about Tia Treo to Duo?

Compared them quickly at CanJam. Trio has tighter bass, sharper resolution, and more open imaging. Duo is warmer with a more linear treble response in the lower-treble as opposed to the Trio's lower-treble recession. But they're just in completely different classes for technicalities as would be expected given the large price difference. I also quickly A/B-d Duo with the Nio which I found to be more of a toss-up. Nio is definitely slightly more detailed, but if you want that DD bass I could see the Duo being a substitute at a lower cost of entry.

I haven’t heard the Trio, but when put the Expectations right for the Duo, it is a great IEM. Details are not top notch, but the openess is something unique and remembers me of open back full size headphones. On some Lil Wayne songs, I can feel the DD dynamics opened due to the open back design.

I would consider the Duo as a side IEM. It’s fun, engaging and relaxing listening.

I think the main point with Duo (and anything else, really) is set the expectations right.

Howdy. First time caller, long time listener.

Thanks @mvvRAZ and @Deezel177 for getting me to this point via other threads. Both really helpful.

Just a few questions to start:

Does 64Audio offer custom user-defined Transparent Color? I like the low profile Stealth look, so I want to camouflage with my skin tone as close as possible. The closest is Solid Beige. I'm hoping for a lighter Transparent Beige. #BeigePrivilege

I did a mock checkout and there is no Sales Tax to California? Can anyone verify so I can budget for a future Black Friday or 4th of July sale?

Oh, can I default to that M15 thingy (Karen-voice) or no choice but to pay extra? I don't think I would ever use the M20. Sorry, I'm not in the IEM Rat Race and/or Hamster Wheel, so don't recall what these modules are called.

They supply both the M15 and M20 modules and I would pick the A12t instead.

I understand your concerns as I have been skimming this thread a bit this month. I remember you from the Chord DAVE threads, so I take your concerns seriously. I'll try to do my Due Diligence.

For now, I'm just setting up the framework for when Black Friday rolls around. My STL files have been approved, design and colors picked out, IPX all the way so I'm just wondering about the shopping cart process and the total damage so I can budget properly.

I'm not ready to make a serious decision yet, but during Black Friday strange things happen so I just want to prepare a plan. I'll likely pass / punt if it's the normal 20% as it's unplanned expense for this year. But if it hits 25-30%, I would have to make an Audible (last minute call) during BF.

Thanks for the module information.

yes it is as Wyville says. i bang on about the r4 cable alot but there is a reason, it is kind of stupefying. i'm listening to kate bush on fourte and 1950 right now. it sounds incredible. as i listen to it i think, "what do i want for?". but when i get home and put fourte's on r4, you get all this texture on notes etc, which in direct comparison with the 1950, makes it look sad.

weird hobby.

Agreed. I see no value in any OEM cables, the R4 is a different beast. I would only use OEM cables for portable convenience. With good mastering recordings, you start with a low noise floor and slowly turn up the volume. Same behavior with the R4. With compressed recordings and OEM cables, it's just loud and claustrophobic where you have to lower the volume. 10/10 Resolution. 10/10 Transparency. Colorful Tonality. Perfectly Neutral. Matches well with the Hugo2 (10/10 Resolution. 10/10 Transparency. Colorful Tonality. Perfectly Neutral) as they share the same qualities. The perfect Reference cable up to the transducer because you get the full [10/10 Resolution. 10/10 Transparency. Colorful Tonality. Perfectly Neutral] if you can deal with a little bulkiness because it's 12-wire. I'm hoping the A18s can be that transducer. While not perfectly Reference, it's close enough for my preferences and should have good synergy with this chain. Nothing's 100% Perfect.

I strive for balance, reference, no coloration but colorful tonality and effortness across the whole chain, not focused on top-heavy or try hard non-Pro tunings.

Hi, great questions. First, we don't have an option for user defined colors. They are all a standard, and some are hand mixed, it is also typically difficult to match skin tone especially since we usually only have photos to go off of.

There is no sales tax to CA, we only charge sales tax for purchases in WA.

You get both the m15 and m20 models with your A18s so you'll be able to switch between both. The A18s is a great choice.

Thank you!!! I'm all set to make a decision during Black Friday. It gives me some time do some due diligence in the meantime. Yes, A18s or the A18X future iteration is the only choice for my preferences. Nothing else will appeal. It's just a matter of A18s now or wait it out for the next iteration once I weigh in the risks.

That's great news about the sales tax. I miss the days there was no sales tax for purchases from Amazon to CA.

64 are pretty slow with releases so I wouldn’t wait on a future iteration :D

Thing is if the A18t was released in 2017, that's only 3 years till the release of the A18s. So by the time Black Friday rolls around, the A18s is potentially halfway or more through it's product cycle if you base it on the A18t to A18s cycle.

Plus I have to factor in I already have a CIEM (low usage) I'm good with for now and I have three Music Server projects I'm working on in parallel which won't be complete until Summer 2022. My cables w/WBT RCAs also will probably not be ready until Summer 2022. I can't go back to small plugs after listening via RCA OUT, so I re-vamping all cables ATM. So the A18s will potentially be sitting around until Summer 2022 as to do it justice, a TOTL cable is mandatory.

The only reason for now is if overseas reopen in early 2022, I can get it out of the way and not worry about where to ship it. But 4th of July seems like a more optimal option versus Black Friday.
