On a serious note, music genre is an important factor. I've been listening to the Odin this evening. More laidback music than I normally listen to. Sounds great! When I switch to metal it becomes too much of a good thing, energy times energy... Music preferences are key imho.I prefer Nio for two main reasons: 1. You need to turn up the volume on the LX to bring out the bass. More than I like. No such issues on the Nio. 2. I found the vocals too recessed on the LX compared to the Nio. Oh and 3. I'm not convinced the LX is actually better technically...
Anyway, no point arguing, the man is a fellow metalhead, so he's going to trust the opinion of a metalhead, no doubt about it...

Well you sure as hell aren't getting recessed vocals on the Odin lmao.On a serious note, music genre is an important factor. I've been listening to the Odin this evening. Regarding vocal recession on the LX, I find that as somewhat dependent upon the recording. Some music may hint at a slight recession and others are more forward.... "White Nile" by Born of Osiris is a great example of this in the metal genre. Very spacious, very technical and vocals are perfectly centered despite all the bombastic bass going on at once. Older things by Born of Osiris sounds quite a bit recessed vocally. I think it's just how it was mastered.
That's for sure!Well you sure as hell aren't getting recessed vocals on the Odin lmao.
When I listened to the latest album by Soen, I had a clear preference for Nio and sold the LX the next day.. I owned it for only two weeks.. I would like to give it another go at some point..Regarding vocal recession on the LX, I find that as somewhat dependent upon the recording. But how else would I waste time and procrastinate doing important things?!?!You need to get off these forums is what you need to do! And I need to take my own advice.
I'm sticking with my nio for the foreseeable future. The fir O module is excellent with it.
I do however still want to get some ear time at some point with the lx though, but I'm pretty sure the uni won't play nice with my ears and since I have a custom Jolene on the way, I think my budget is spent.

Yea.. with my LX setup the way it is, I get no vocal recession on Soen's music. Martyrs and Lotus have very mid to mid-forward vocal presentations. That's for sure!

That’s actually a really nice pairing. Change the cable to the Eros II and I’m doing the same here right now.Yea.. with my LX setup the way it is, I get no vocal recession on Soen's music. Martyrs and Lotus have very mid to mid-forward vocal presentations.
