So got an email from Schiit, yggy is back ordered again til the 15th. Man this wait is killing me lol, well hopefully the wait will be worth it xD

Yes, parts issue.

I received the same email.
While disappointing, it's not entirely unexpected and I do appreciate receiving word directly from Schiit this time around.

From what I understand the main delay seems to center around a parts shortage for the Gen 5 USB board.

Damn I wish I didn’t see this thread. My Yggy is going in to repair a broken usb connector and was definitely going to upgrade to the usb5 and a friend who was a beta tester on the Analog2 (his is a Gumby) said definitely go with the upgrade now reading some of the comments here I’m starting to think twice. While the term “meatier” doesn’t throw me off too much I still think I’m going to do the upgrade. They had to send me the order number as I could not retrieve it and got it April of 2016 . Though I really like the Mojo as a dac I need my Yggy back (cue the Applebee’s commercial jingle Yggy Back Yggy Back Yggy Back damn what the mind comes up with some times ; )). I’ve heard the Dave a couple of times and the Hugo2 once but this was at CanJam so not the right place to say what is better but have to say listened to the Dave headphone out on my Ether-C’s and was not too impressed doesn’t mean others might do better just wasn’t my experience. Now the Utopias from a Cavalli Liquid Tungsten Prototype fed by a Dave was just about as awesome as it gets.

As one completely thrilled with YggyA since 2015 every time I sat down to listen, for me, the most difficult thing after selling it and buying YggyB was was the painful wait (even though I knew this from YggyA!) for it to "become real". During that wait, it's a good to great $200-$400 dac. But after several hundred hours, for me it's a solid upgrade in all the characteristics I need - true timbre & touch (in space), REAL (not more) bass, improved dynamic attack yet more graceful! (How do ya do that?)

@johnjen may weigh in since he's been documenting his impressions hour-wise of his upgraded unit.

You nailed it. I'm a serious jazz fan, and the upgrade made everything in a small jazz ensemble even more detailed and present. Listening to Roy Hargrove's "Earfood." Double bass is so solid and present, Hargrove's trumpet is so vibrant, Gerald Clayton's piano chords live in space, and the light touch of the drummer (Montez Coleman) leaves no smear.

Yeah my JggyB has over 1050hrs and the sound is still morphing a bit.
But the thing is for me anyways, in order to really hear these subtle but most compelling and sought after nuances and audible cues, my 800's need to be on my head playing music for at least 15-20+ minutes, and don't stop there, because at 35-45 minutes and again at ≈1.5 hrs of continuously playing and listening to music, new additions to the complexity and intricacies of the actual instruments, and in their acoustic 'space' both artificial (in studio) and actual (acoustic venues) becomes MUCH more distinct and 'REAL' as in palpable and visceral (thanks in part to the greater focus and resolution in the bass).

It almost seems like the auditory processing portion of the brain finally kicks into high gear, or high definition, or ultra focus, and the entire soundstage and EVERYTHING in it, gets WAY MOAR REAL.

And the bass response was my #1 question for an area of improvement in the Jggy to JggyB transformation.
And I can report that the bass is better than I expected and as gefski described it above, "REAL (not more) bass, improved dynamic attack yet more graceful!" is what I'm hearing as well.
It goes as low as I've ever heard it (my PWD-II had 'better' very bottom end than my Jggy did) but now with the added resolution, texture and nuance, I can hear the bass notes as notes, along with their relationship to their upper harmonics, as one instrument, and not just as whumps, thuds, thrubs and buzz'z etc.

EDM bass has taken on a whole new depth and degree of solidty, and when things hit hard and fast, it's almost over before it began.

It could also be said that the Jggy Magic in the mids has now been equally applied to the bottom and top ends, as well.

For me in my system this upgrade, while seemingly 'just an upgrade', yields a much more coherent and cohesive and visceral acoustic experience, bottom to top, inside out and outside in.

Just like I like…

Thanks for the recommendation; listening to it now!

Friend, just do the upgrade. You will thank us later. Your credit card, not as much.

They are beta testing the A2 on the Gumby?

You won't regret it :)

JJ - can you describe any changes/improvements you heard in the vocals with the A2 upgrade?

Thx,
RCB :)

Sure thing.
What I've noticed is an increase in I5 (Intelligibility) and HE (Hearing Everything) which results in being able to understand all/more of the words sung and hearing the acoustic space as an augmentation to the vocals, yet as a separate aspect to them.

Also being able to hear backup/background vocals AS distinct and separate 'voices', even when they are close in tonality, inflection, and style.
And being able to distinguish between several singers, apart from each other, and be able to 'track' each singer independently, has also become much easier as well.
Paul Simon with the Everly brothers as backup vocals on the Graceland album, or the female background vocals used by Pink Floyd are a good examples.

And related, but not aimed at vocals per se, are massed strings (violins, cellos, standup basses, etc) along with horns etc, which are all now easier to distinguish as individual instruments from each other.
Sort of like saying there is less 'crowding' or compressing all of those similar sound signatures into one mass of 'strings', or horns etc.
It could be likened to greater low level signal differentiation that is more closely linked to their parent 'voice' and enables an increase in hearing individual instruments within the instruments in that section (violins, french horns etc.).
