From what I've read, that seems to change after a little while, so stick with it for a week or two more then see if its still bad for you.

Depends on whether you want on ear or over ear and if you mind if it changes the sound sig. a little.

Exactly. If you value comfort over ultimate sound quality then go for velour pads. If you want the sound get HM5 pads or AKG or AT.

Perhaps on ear, since they usually have better air flow unless I am mistaken. I'd say I value comfort more, so would I go for the velour pads then? Are those on ear or over ear? They sell these pads on eBay, correct?

Yes velour on ear if you don't mind some loss of SQ. And yes Ebay has velour HD25 on ear pads in various fun colors.

Oh, and you'll of course notice more ambient noise as they will isolate even less with velour.

Ah, wow they actually cost about the same as the headphones themselves. I guess these HD25SP HD25 earpads

are not the same material as these HD25 Velour Replacement Earpads then

The $6 ones are the plastic ones, not the velour ones.

I see, thanks for the heads up. eBay seems to be pretty expensive, especially when you double the price with the international shipping. I don't know if anyone is familiar with this store, or if it's trustworthy, but I found these to be the cheapest so far (only $4 shipping).

I would be careful about purchasing hi-fi equipment listed on eBay from International sellers --- especially if they are from the Orient. A lot of those sellers are peddling fake items.

If shopping on eBay, I would strongly advise you to stick with US sellers only.

Just my 2 cents ...

They aren't bad. I've bought stuff there before. They used to have the reputation as one of those big New York rip off companies that would bait and switch you or sell grey market stuff but I think they've gotten a lot better. Maybe check out their reviews on e-tailer sites and see what you can find out. I actually bought a refurb Canon DSLR a from them a few years ago and they tried to upsell me on a whole upgrade package and were a little slow shipping but overall they were ok and the camera was is good shape. Still works great. FWIW

You are confused. B&H has always had a great reputation. They are one of the highest rated retailers on www.resellerratings.com They are the largest camera retailer in NYC

I recently bought the S400, and I was wondering about the durability of the stock earpads. In my experience, pleather earpads tend to wear out quicker than expected, due to warmth and lipids from the skin.

I bought these foam earpad covers:
http://www.eachbuyer.com/headphone-earphone-foam-ear-pad-earpad-cover-859.html

They cost almost nothing (5 pairs for $2.30 shipped) and they fit perfectly (and I mean perfectly) as protective covers over the stock earpads. As you might expect, they give more comfort, but less isolation. You may want to cut out a 1" hole in the middle (very easy) to make sure the sound is not filtered.

Edit (2013-10-09).

The shop moved the covers to a new URL:
http://www.eachbuyer.com/10-x-headphone-earphone-foam-earpad-64mm-p4839.html

By the way, here is a picture of my S400 with the covers on. The covers are modded with 1" holes.

You are correct. I was mistaken. I think the dodgy one was called Broadway or something like that. Not sure they've even in business anymore.

There are many ripoff camera and electronics stores in NYC. The ripoff stores are typically small and typically owned by immigrants.
