Hm5 pads are now on. I also picked up the akg pads also. I liked the akg pads but after putting on the hm5 over the akg it really kills all the bass! Soundstage is great with the hm5 and they are super comfy. Will tweak more later.

They sounded horrible out of the box, but 10 hours later started to sound OK.
HM5 pads are a must - original pads hurt my ears.

Has anyone compared these to the HA-S500? In terms of sound, comfort, clamping pressure against ears? Do you think the S500 is worth the extra money? Thanks.

Oh yeah forgot to answer your question regarding these S400s, yeah the S500s has way more 3D resolution and lush bass. The S400s are more mid-centric, with not as extended highs and heavy lows as the S500s. So i would say the S500s are much more superior for modern day music and than these S400s. But some like ghost, prefers the S400s more cuz he listens to old people music.

Just ordered a pair of has400 and seems like the go to pad for these is the k81's. Just wondering, where are people buying these pads? I'm searching all over and the only one I'm finding is on ebay that's from China. Not sure it's legit or not though. Any insight?

Hands down, it's the S500s, Ds was spazzing about how amazing these S500s are for movies, but i have yet to try them out besides for music. LoL
