  Today,I listened DX90 in our forum meeting..I compared with my AK100.With my musics.And I love AK100 more with IE800.

And I think,DX90 and AK100 are so close.DX90 can be harsh and it has more open sound signature.

But,AK100's mids much better than DX90 and AK100's background is more cleaner.

I think DX90's only plus is power.

About other things and in sound AK100 is better with IE800.

I wanted to write my impressions.

I think,I will buy AK120.But,it not certain.

can't be more agree. love AK100 for the neutrality. and all DX series that i tried always sounded harsh to me. DX50 DX90 DX100.

For all who are interested:

I could talk to some Astell & Kern guys  on the Munich High End Show this weekend.
They showed (and had several units to listen to) the all new AK100 II, AK 120 II, and the AK240.
The pricing will be further increased to 1.200 EURO (I believe - if I didn't mishear)  for the Ak100 II, 1.800 EURO for the AK120 II.

The Players increased in Size to Iphone like dimensions, all have a new Android based UI, a large touch screen and more storage on board. The second SDXC - Card Slot unfortunately is gone (due to Android restrictions) and the AK 100 II comes with  64 GB on board plus 1 Slot for a 128 GB card, the AK120 II comes with 128 GB on board and 1 Slot for a 128 GB card.
AK100 still has 1 DAC, AK120 has 2 DACs - but now they are from Cirrus.  (Don't know the exact specs)

The look and feel is very similar to the 240. Both have WiFi and are able to stream Music.

I asked about the "old" 100 and 120  - they declared that there will be a major firmware update in the next few weeks.
The Japanese AK homepaghe already shows the new products (I got the pics from there)

So - lets hope for the best that this update will solve most of the issues - I fear that afterwards there will not be much focus on the "old" players. (strange how You can think of "old" when the product is sometimes not even a year old. This is becoming more and more of a cell phone like market in terms of  product development and cycles ...)

So - thought I let You  know.

What further increased? Those greedy bas3rds.
If they already said $999 and $1799 then stick with it, I hole they get a major backlash...

As I wrote - maybe I am not 100% sure about the price of the AK100, but I am absolutely sure about the 1.800 Euro for the AK 120 II

I'm pretty sure for the AK120II as well since from the start I've already read it'll be at 1,799 Euro. But I'd be really pissed if they increased the price for AK100II..

but please give your impression on AK100II vs AK120 AND AK120II :)

Well , let's see how major this firmware update really is.

As you guys mentioned previously, there won't be much more focus once the II's get into stores.
As I said in the AK100 & AK120 II thread, I am not a fan of the design AND the price. The reason I stick with the old AK100 is both its SQ and form factor, other than that is just to make things looks even more nice.

Addicted To Audio here (AU) have increased the price of the AK line significantly over the past 6 mths since I bought mine - I paid AUD$870 for a Mk II, they're now $1170 (Mk I is AUD$969 !!); exchange rate in USD terms is actually a few % better now compared to then, so they're either profiteering or iRiver have bumped up prices on everything for them. We do tend to pay an 'Australia tax' (companies charging more for products here purely because they can & independent of currency differences) on a lot of imported stuff though (no, it's not due to import duties/taxes/whatever, they're relatively low compared to say, many places in Europe).

Edit - MiniDisc are selling the AK240 & 120 Titan at the same price as ATA.
