These look great.
DIY AH's site says "This headphone can be used directly out of a phone when you don’t feel the need to play very loud. Decently loud is no problem.
An external amp allows you to play impressively loud."
Even at 120 ohms, is it true this headphone doesn't require an amp and can run off a phone?
So an easier to drive, more detailed version of the HD600 with a wider soundstage, more extension for about $200?
The sensitivity is actually 110 dB SPL, “louder” than the HD 600/650.Well, the Sennheiser site lists the sensitivity as 90 dB at 1 mW. That is significantly less than the HD 600. On paper, looks like almost a wash to me. I would not imagine them sounding tops out of a phone but it's gonna be a personal thing and also depend if you have a good amp to compare to.
Stay updated on Sennheiser at their sponsor profile on Head-Fi.

We feel that the 120 Ω impedance is actually a sweet spot for providing a moderate amount of dampening, combined with the 110 dB SPL sensitivity the amping/power requirements are low and the headphone is fairly flexible! As always, a cleaner, lower distortion amp will provide a higher, scaled up sound quality.

Does this sitting in the sweet spot mean that while easy to power, they would also do well on a tube amplifier that normally makes your 6-series headphones shine?
Looks like a brighter HD650.
I wonder if HD 560s will be soon available on Amazon.ca instead of just Sennheiser Canada.
Why feed the monster? Buy direct from Sennheiser. They will ship as quickly as the product is in stock and you have the 60-day return guarantee. It takes stepping outside of one's Amazon return comfort zone, but ideologically... why give the middleman a cut. The price in Europe is the same Sennheiser = amazon.de.
