Hello Head-Fi!

Whether for pleasure or productivity, audiophile headphones have become indispensable to our community for both musical enjoyment and critical listening. We’re thrilled to announce an addition to this audiophile headphone family, the HD 560S. Featuring a new 120 Ω transducer and a neutral signature sound, it offers analytical audio enthusiasts a reference listening experience at a breakthrough value.

Reveal the truth in your music.

The HD 560S features both the angled transducer alignment and ultralight chassis of the HD 5x9 series—the former a time tested listening position favored by audio engineers of all kinds. The bigger story here is its precise sound and lineage to our HD 6x0 series, namely the HD 660S. The acoustic performance inside the HD 560S was specifically honed for listeners seeking the truth in their setup, with accurate audio reproduction, defined bass response, and articulate treble clarity.

HD 560S features:
  • Natural and accurate reference sound
  • All-new transducer with new polymer-blend transducer diaphragm for linear excursion
  • Effortlessly reproduces deep, defined bass and brilliant treble
  • Angled transducers recreate the optimal listening position every time
  • Open ear cups for the most natural expansion of sound waves
  • Lightweight design and velour earpads for all-day wearing comfort
  • Extended 6 Hz - 38 kHz frequency response tailored for source-accurate reproduction
  • Efficient 120 Ω impedance for use with a wide range of audio sources
  • Ultra-low <0.05% THD (@1 kHz / 90 dB SPL) for expressive dynamic range and clarity, even at high SPL
  • Detachable 3m cable with 6.3mm jack plug and 3.5mm adapter with flexible, 15cm lead

The HD 560S transducers are specifically tuned for accuracy, offering dependable A/B comparisons of components, mixes, and media formats. The entire frequency range is honest, complemented by smooth, deep bass extension. Whether grading a new hi-resolution master or revisiting a vintage audiophile preamp the HD 560S delivers a fatigue-free listen that you can depend on.

Consistent real-world performance is further realized from the HD 560S’ meticulously selected components and applied acoustic principles. For example the transducer diaphragm uses a new, innovative polymer blend that provides more linear excursion—especially important for accuracy and control. The combination of driver capability and component quality yields performance typically associated with our HD 600 series.

The HD 560S features a detachable, single-sided 3m cable with a 6.3mm stereo jack plug termination. A 3.5mm adapter with flexible, 15cm lead is included for connection to a wide range of devices. To make your reviews easy to find, post them on Head-Fi's HD 560S listing here:

This new headphone will be available to purchase starting September 29th, 2020. For more information, including pricing, visit — We can’t wait for you to hear it.

New! Feature Rundown Video

Archived for posterity:
Shipping Updates...

We expected the HD 560S to be popular, but it’s turning out to be a hit beyond our high expectations! We are blown away by the positive response we received, which turned into a significant demand for the product, globally. Unfortunately this has now caused a backlog in shipping. Our teams are working hard on continuing production and fulfilling orders.

We will be editing this post with an update on availability here once available.

We also would like to acknowledge and thank our customers for the feedback about our direct digital sales service. We want to provide excellent service, so when we fall short and get negative feedback (or we get positive feedback), it's an opportunity for us to look and see where we can improve our processes and responses.

Thank you all for your patience in the meantime!

Edit Oct 8th: Canada will not have to wait until 2021, the HD 560S will be available the same time as the US. It’s possible our North American customers will start receiving their orders before we can make a general announcement – we want to make one, but at the end of the day, delivery is the priority.

Edit Oct 14th: The first NA orders should have begun delivery! Dealers should also receive stock.

Edit Oct 23: We want to thank the community for welcoming the HD 560S with open arms. We instantly sold out in many markets due to the amazing response to the product. The GOOD NEWS: More inventory will be coming in late-November / early-December in all regions (Asia, Europe, North America)! However, as demand remains very high, we can’t guarantee the duration of availability at the moment. Our supply chain teams are still feverishly working on ramping up further production with quality and consistency our number one priority. We recommend checking the Sennheiser website in your region, or your trusted Audiophile dealer for availability at that time. Even if the status has not changed much, we will provide another update on November 5th, 2020.

Edit Nov 18th: Hello Head-Fi! We’d like to provide a few updates and reminders to the community:
  • MOMENTUM True Wireless 2 earphones now feature a new High-End Sound Tuning mode. MTW2 owners can unlock it via the Sound Control App on iOS and Android. The active thread is here. Note: only MTW2 supports this update.
  • The recently announced CX 400BT True Wireless earphones are now shipping worldwide
  • As of this writing, we have a limited supply of HD 560S at Additionally, we just shipped stock to help fulfill North American dealer pre-orders, plus some extra units to retailers that requested them to prepare for the holiday. Select dealers have recently received stock as well—please check with your Sennheiser audiophile dealer for specific order inquiries or estimates on replenishments.

We will provide another HD 560S update in mid-December. Thank you for your reviews, impressions, and feedback on our latest release!

It’s close, just under it... but the bass extends deeper into the sub bass before rolling off, plus the drivers are angled, so some may prefer the sound signature.
