The New AEON 2: It's The End Of MrSpeakers

Nov 30, 2019 at 11:18 AM Post #511 of 2,052
I am almost 100% convinced to buy AEON 2 Closed but I am still researching for a DAP/ portable amp to pair with it. Many suggestions are given but all devices I've researched so far but have some sort of problems (insufficent power to drive Aeon, not enough portability, software issues...). Aeon + device will cost around $1500 so such setup must be near perfect to justify the price.

Is anybody ever going to post a review of the Aeon 2 Open?

MattTCG posted one a couple days ago... But yes, we just started shipping, and with a short week and holidays you'll probably need to wait a few days...

What's the usual delay before reviewers start putting out reviews of these things? Z Reviews, Metal, DMS, Josh Valour etc. Is it because they wait for someone to send to them?

@flarex3, I have a Sony WMz1 dap, and also picked up the Aeon 2 Open, and have to say that the cans sound pretty good with this setup. However, they really shine with SMSL SP200 (non portable). I'm pretty sure that the Sony Dap is one of the more powerful on the market. Just want to give you some context when you make your decision.

Actually, the Sony WM1z DAP is one of the weaker ones on the market.

Ibasso DX220 should be enough with stock Amp’s 2,5 balanced output. But the real deal is to get Amp8 card. This one is balanced 4,4.

I'm very curious about the Aeon 2 Open. I wonder how they would compare sound wise to the Focal Elex (which I have)?

Not sure if anyone has mentioned this already but I was wondering how the A2Cs sounded without a perfect seal (i.e. for someone wearing glasses).

Some headphones tend to be a bit more forgiving than others in that respect.

I wouldn't count on Zeos. He didn't like the original Aeons. Besides, he talks a lot but says very little of import in his "reviews".

You will get bass roll off, how much depends on how poor the seal is. When I wear glasses to read I just tuck the arms into the top of the pads instead of resting on my ear, that keeps the seal and the lens angle is still good for reading.
