is this the same pair from the previous video? did you show them from straight-on side view this time to hide the pad rolling?
@audioandy, the pair we are giving away is brand new in a box. The video above is the original video posted, just the very end of the video to remind people there is still time left to enter the contest rather than resharing the original full-length video. Nobody is hiding anything. If you watched the most recent comparison video of the Aeon2 Noire vs. the LCD-2 Closed we also addressed the pads in that video.

I have to give an update on my experience with Dekoni pads on my Aeons. I just got a pair of the Dekoni fenestrated sheepskin and the base & adhesive are different than the two standard sets of Dekoni sheepskin pads I bought. The fenestrated pads that I just bought have a much more sticky adhesive - in a good way! The plastic base on the fenestrated is gray and not black like my other ones. And the fit is perfect. I don't know if this is how the different pads are supposed to be or if it has been redesigned. The older sets never stuck and I had to improvise with some double sided tape.
So - my new fenestrated pads stick and fit perfectly. They're very comfortable.

@DekoniAudio just wanted to let you guys know as well.....

oh right, I’m supposed to listen to them :)
They seem to do exactly what Dekoni’s frequency chart says - reduces the bass and brings up the mids. I listened to them for a while the past few days. And although I can’t A/B them against the old pads, I now never feel that they have too much bass or a V shape response. They seem much more even and closer to my Aeon 2 closed. My favorite headphones for sound are still my 6XX but since I bought I first pair pair of Aeons last year I always reach for those since they are so comfortable and easy to listen to. My Aeon X open with the fenestrated pads with foam + single notch white felt inserts sound really great. Not too much of any frequency. But I would be willing to pay a lot of money for the 6XX sound in an Aeon shell!

Are the stock pads of your Aeon perforated inside?

Absolutely it shouldn't be, we had an adhesion issue with the paint on one batch late last year. We had never done a "scatch test" for paint finish before because in almost 8 years we'd never had a problem like this. Turns out those parts hadn't been properly cleaned before finishing. We now test for finish adhesion as part of our QA, it hasn't recurred happily.

If anyone has an issue we'll certainly take care of this, just contact info@danclarkaudio.com. We are still processing repairs and handling support.
Did anyone contact @mrspeakers in the end to fix this? I have a Noire purchased in March this year and the paint is coming off too. I contacted through the website before finding this.
I'm travelling to the US (the headphones were bought in Spain) and I would just like to know how long it takes to be fixed before I come back to Spain.
Thanks!

I sent my pair back under warranty for the same problem. IIRC it took ~2 weeks including shipping time from Canada to US

I had that issue and they fixed/replaced them, it took a couple weeks. It’s my understanding that the issue was with early units, I haven’t heard of Noire units having that issue.

Same here. Customer service at DCA (Susan I believe?) is amazing. Took about 2 weeks from Canada, to receive them back. Fast shipping helps. Just send an email and explain your timeline, see if it can be done.

I'm curious about this headphone (Aeon 2 closed). I currently own Open X from Drop. How much of an upgrade Aeon 2 closed is compared to Open X ? Would it be huge step up across the board, or incremental improvement, or very subtle that you don't notice much ? Thanks.

Assuming it was a successful upgrade, what would that be for you? Are you looking for resolution, imaging, bass texture or impact? It might be helpful to look at it the other way around. What do you want more or less of that would make the trade/change/purchase worth it.
…Yeah I can read my own sig
