thanks Haku, that is definitely one I was considering.  Do you have any experience with this player?  I see the x3i is only $150.  Major difference?

bmulkshake01 - I've tested all of Fiio's DAPs except the X1 and second Haku's recommendation if you'd like a more neutral, ergonomic DAP. The original X3 is warmer and has wonky controls and UI vs. the new X3 2nd-gen.

X3i is a solid buy. It was my first DAP. I sold it to buy the X3ii as I preferred it. YMMV.
 
I compared the two when I reviewed the X3ii. (LINK).

Pobably not on par with Fiio stuff, but formidable and won't drain the phone battery. The IEMs are bonus and have $60+ dollar sound IMHO.
