From what I own or have owned - the Beyer T1 - just a great all rounder.  HD600 would be second.

From what I've tried, and may yet still buy at some stage - the AKG K812 and HD800 (spent over a week with both).

HD600 has pretty much stayed consistent for years.  Only real change I've seen is the drivers changed slightly (older black screen ones were a little more mellow sounding to me  - but could have been the pads). IMO everyone should own an HD600 at least once.  For many it will be end-game.  What is surprising is how many have gone from flagship status back to HD600 again.  And yes  - it IS that good.

The DT880 was a former flagship from Beyerdynamic - and was introduced around the same time as the HD600.  It is more neutral than the Senn, and has more extension at both ends.  But it can't match the natural tone and timbre of the HD600 IMO - but again is a wonderful headphone fully deserving its praise.

My advice - if you're not contemplating a single flagship, and want the best of what mid-fi can offer - IE genuine value - set yourself up with the former flagships, all at the same time .....

HD600 (or HD650), DT880, and AKG K701 (or K702).  If you shopped carefully you'd get all 3 used but in a good condition for the same price you'd pay for a used T1.

I had the trio for an extended period of time.  All world class headphones.

Q701 and K701 are essentially same - slightly different pads, and bass response - but minor.  I owned both.

With the DT880 buy whatever you need to pair with the amps you have.  I haven't heard the 32 ohm, but have owned both the 250 ohm and 600 ohm.  If you primarily use an OTL tube amp - go 600 ohm.  For anything else - 250 ohm.

Listening to the HE1000 as I type.  My favorite headphone, currently.

That is awesome Moe!  Is that a review loaner?

Hmm, I'm just putting two and two together, and by any chance are you also planning to review it with new Whiplash cables?

Call me crazy, but with so many headphones I had a chance to review, I still find ATH-MSR7 to be among the best I have heard (and like fine vine, it gets better with age after 150hrs of use).

I'm not sure if you guys have heard the new Zedd album but it's an epic album! No, I'm not suggesting everyone buy it LOL, just saying you should check it out when you have a chance

I might need to listen to his latest "True Colors" a few more times, but from the initial impression I liked only half of the songs and felt the rest were just fillers to get the album quickly out of the door as a follow up to his single with Selena Gomez (I guess they are still dating?).

The album I would HIGHLY recommend to listen to is Gareth Emery "Drive" from last year.  It's EPIC with every track being a gem!  Another one which is totally sick is Hardwell "United we are" album, love every track and I find production to be top notch!
