I am thinking about trying some of these...

Just wondering if someone can tell me that has modded the pads on these to be over ear...

Is the bass still good? And also is the soundstage good? Can you compare them to expensive headphones?

Lacked bass with just the stock pads with MH5 pads over them so............

Double stuffed the stock pads as well as the HM5 pads for the best bass i have heard from these S500 with crazy bigger soundstage with mids and highs still intact.

Result is a set of S500s that can hang with my WS99s, though the bass is of different flavor/ quality/ quantity, they are almost as satisfying to listen as my WS99s. nuff said.

HM5 pads here. Yes, the bass is still good though not excessive. Compared to expensive headphones? They are much cheaper.

There we go re-stuffed the ws55 pads leaving about 3/4 of an inch of space empty in front of the pads. And results in an 'over the ear' pads if I tuck my ears in the pads a bit. Comfort is excellent and creates a nice seal. I'm not adept at describing sound so I can't comment on it other than it sounds different and I prefer the ws55 + partially stuffed pads over the stock ones.

Just got a pair of these.  Took 5 days from Japan EMS, extremely quick shipping time!  They sound great but the stock pads sucked, so I began looking for options.  Steelseries just released a new pair of on-ears called the flux with 40mm drivers and some cool looking pads, the wheels started turning and I ordered a couple.  I will report that the cloth ones and the premium leather ones fit fine.

Both pads drastically increase comfort, with the cloth ones offering a bit reduced bass response.  The premium leather ones are a nice step up in quality/comfort without sacrificing too much bass.  I still believe the stock pad provide the best bass output.  Just a heads up to all out there who were looking to play around with ANOTHER set of pads.

what kind of cloth are the cloth ones? like a velour or more like a t-shirt?

I've never understood the people that say the stock pads "hurt" their ears. I've got a fairly large-sized head, so you'd think if it was going to hurt anyone, it would be someone with a larger head which could cause a stronger clamping force. The WS55 had much more clamping force and could be uncomfortable until you stretched it out.....I never had to do so with the S500.

I ordered the HM5 pads almost 3 weeks ago.I know they say delivery can take up to 30 days but I was wondering if you get a confirmation E-Mail from them once they are sent. I got a confirmation that my payment was excepted the same day I ordered them but haven't got anything since then confirming order or shipment.

Thanks
