I'm surprised more people aren't putting the HD25 Adidas pads on them.

Just a quick question for y'all. Is the HA-S500 the undisputed king of portable listening right now? I'm looking to get a pair of portable cans (preferably on ear and I don't want in-ear) and there's a few I've been looking at. They are the:

JVC HA-S500
AKG 518LE
Noontec Zoro (Not a fan of the Beats styling but I've heard good things)
Pioneer HDJ 500 (I realize these are over the ear, but they can be had for about $50-$60 new on eBay, so I'm considering them)
Urbanears Plattan (these are probably the ones I'm least likely to go with, but they sure do look nice)
Reloop RHP-5 (the biggest wildcard of them all. hard to find reviews but I have their big brother [the RHP-10] and they are amazing)

Any tips on all these? My top 3 are probably the JVC, AKG, and Reloop, in no particular order.

I've never heard AKG, but I figure I'd like them because I love JBL speakers. Have you checked out the ES700s?

Those are a bit out of my price range. I'm looking to spend $50-$70 max. Should've put that in my previous post, sorry.

In that price range the S500s sound like your best bet. You're gonna wanna buy the WS55 pads to get a better sound and comfort though.

So... me and a friend are thinking of buying some Navships wire and recabling our pairs...

My suspicion was right, my S500s aren't finished cooking. I've been burning them in for a few days and I've already noticed improvements. I can't wait until they're done and I get myself some pads.

How many hours you've got on yours? Mine reached 500 hours.
