The JVC HA-S500 thread.

I think things have gotten a bit better with my burn in. I've found that those flat vocals still remain to some degree, just with those recordings. If anyone here listens to hip hop I like Tech N9ne and Strange Music a lot, but their recordings don't seem to do so well under scrutiny. Deep good bass is not a common occurrence, nor does a spread out/well mixed soundstage seem to be. And the vocals have that airiness to them that bothers me.

Other recordings have a nice wide soundstage as well as depth, which I haven't yet really experienced with my Sennheiser HD650s (the depth). Maybe they need a better source/supply chain to shine (one definitely can do better than an Audio-gd Compass integrated $200-300 dac/amp) but $60 portables that can do it over sub-flagship ~$350 cans definitely says something
Try a few mods... Vocals will get better!

Thanks guys, i will try to find one on the sale/trade forum first, if not, i will buy a brand new one.
do they sound good without mods? too lazy to do mods lol

I'm loving how they sound without mods, but I'm not very experienced with how headphones are supposed to sound. I just know that the clarity on these make my SE215's sound a little muffled in comparison.

Not that I think you're totally wrong, I notice it with my 650s too and not as much with my Klipsch Image S4 IEMs. Could it just be the cans are less forgiving of them? I'll have to see after the mods though..what mods would be good, the HM5 mods with the 2 of 3 vents taped to bring the bass back?

There are a few free mods I'd try first... these cans may not be as forgiving as your S4s though, but I'll tell you a mod I've done that made it a little better... :)

It might have not made a difference to buy it from Japan honestly. It may only be a few dollars difference, but still saving nonetheless. However, if you are buying the JVC FX700, or JVC FXZ100/200's, Japan Amazon is the place to buy them from! I saved a buncha moneys. Purchased a FXZ200, CKS1000, and JVCS500. Was holding my nuts to not buy the FX700, as the FXZ may be the newer, better iem for me.

Thanks. I get "...HA-S500-B cannot be shipped to the selected address. " for my Canadian address. I tried a New York address and got the same error. ????

you must register with tenso first. they will give you an address to ship the products from amazon.ja to tenso. then tenso will send the package to you with a processing and shipping fee.
