Interesting... so JVC announced today that the S400's will be for sale in the US in October for $39.95

All those who just ordered their S400's for 65 bucks in the last couple of days = doh!

Edit: And those pads sure look a lot more like the HD25 Pleather. See someone is listening to me. JVC just officially joined JVCHD25PP club!

Yeah. The SR500 looks like the S400 with different pads and a mic/remote. Could be very nice though.

I did notice that. It would be odd though if it didn't measure up to the cheaper S400s. Although it wouldn't be the first time the cheaper product was actually superior...
 
I have to say, once the S400s are actually around for $39, I'll have to pick up a pair to compliment my S500s.

The price is good and should be even lower. Weren't the FX40 supposed to $29.99 on release but $5-$7 lower right away at certain places.

Ya you guys have to watch what you buy for pads.. The ones that we are reporting sound good these "cheaper" versions have not been tested. For example the supposed HD25 velours DOC got is not the same as what I have. I can tell just by looking at it and those will not sound the same as what we are hearing from these pads.
 
Go with Cutes version. I can certainly guarantee you guys will not regret the purchase. Plus it aint like the HD25 velours where you have to spend $24 or so. It will be $14 shipped that ain't nothing compared to what it will do for these cans. I can now say it sounds proper. Dare I say perfect.  I can't get these HA-S500 off of my head today at all. It is permanently attached. Unreal.

Good catch. Im pretty positive despite the diff in price, they have inferior drivers. It is the ipod control most consumers r gunna go for. I guess we will know for sure in oct.

Might be worse than I thought though. The few specs I could find for the SR500 say 120 grams and 10-24,000 freq. resp.
This makes them the old S360 as the 560 are 10-25,000 and they are 130 grams.

Essentially an old phone now about $25, with previously suspect durability with a new smart cable. I really doubt they improved anything.
 
Offering two colors instead of three, recycling old phones. Just cheaping out a bit for there JVC.

No, these don't fit the HA-S500s natively. But with a bit of cutting and gluing, the pads on these work out to create the most accurate vocals I've ever heard. The bass bloat is GONE. Seriously, these pads turn them into an entirely different animal.
