Good luck with that! I grew up on alternative/punk, whatever, but I actively hate Swans. Michael Gira tries so hard, hey, look at me, I'm sooooooo deeep and hard core! Music made for music critics.
I can't imagine taking a date to that show, talk about a mood killer.
I'm with you on metal though. When I listen to metal, I tend towards black metal, myself.
It didn’t go well. She did not like the concert at all. We had to leave early. She said the music sounded very negative and made her feel bad and anxious and angry. She said the crowd all looked like vampires@Ciggavelli --- So, it suddenly occurred to me that you never gave us a follow-up report on your date, wherein you took that poor girl to a freaking SWANS show. Because honestly, I'm struggling to think of a more mood-killing, depressive (not in a good way) event to attend with a date than a Swans show and listening to that insufferable putz Michael Gira howling on stage. If she continued dating you after listening to that band, live no less, she must really, really like you and she is one impressive girl with an extreme tolerance for awful music!
Come on, spill the beans! Inquiring minds want to know...![]()
Check out Syncatto and Sithu Aye. Both fall into the category of "happy" metal/prog rock but are technically impressive.I’m gonna try to find some good positive music that isn’t too positive, but also not like what I usually listen to.
Ugh, no. Just no. High quality ear plugs, my friend. She said she wouldn’t want to go to another concert again unless it was Justin Beiber or Beyoncé and the like. I’d hate that about as much as she hated the Swans concert![]()
Is it better than the LTA MZ3?OK, new amp arrived today. Now I understand what scaling up the 1266 means. There was another x% available in my headphones and I needed a powerful, thick, punchy amp to bring the 1266 to its potential. I now believe the Flux Mentor does this in spades. This is my first and likely last, solid state amp. Perfect pairing! Although it's only my first day with this amp, I'm sure after a 100 hours of listening, I'll conclude the same.
It’s very different. It’s solid state, a lot more wattage, and I got it specifically to drive tough planar headphones like the Abyss 1266. The MZ3 is a phenomenal OTL tube amp and pairs well with just about everything else.Is it better than the LTA MZ3?
