The iBasso DX50 Thread - Latest firmware: 1.9.5 - June 30, 2016

The dx50 i have seems to have problem recognising the available storage space for both internal storage and external SD card. Then when i connect it to the mac, files wont move because it thinks that the device has not enough space. This problem exists across different firmwares i used so i assume it is not the software problem. Anyone had the similar issue?

Never have it full so can't say for sure, but for windows the number matched accross the PC and DX50 reading.

My 64GB mSD (exFAT) is totally full with ~18MB room left and I have no issues scanning, browsing, coping or playing from it when DX50 is connected via USB cable in storage mode. Also my DX50 internal memory has very little free space, also no issues.
Your problem might be underpowered USB root hub or bad cable. Though, I don`t have mac, only Ubuntu and win7x64.

Hi, guys! First time for me to share anything on this thread, and I'm sorry if this has been mentioned before.

With the latest firmware 1.9.3, I have managed to get the following to work, whereas previously I can't.

As a DAC for Windows with Foobar2000 and Jriver. Will also output DoP as well. Just install the drivers and plug and play. Nice!

As DAC for Android running Lollipop. Set USB setting on DX50 to DAC for Linux. And voila! Runs on both my LG G3 and Nexus 7 2013. Just plug and play.

Yes, all configs above 16/44 have lag. Maybe little less but still. It works without problems though and doesn`t throw BSOD anymore when switching between ASIO configs.

Hey guys. While using DX50 with AKG K545 (32 Ohm) which gain level (1.2V(Low gain), 1.7V(Mid gain), 3.1V(High Gain)) should I use?

In my experience it is always either medium or high depending on how power hungry the headphones are. Just do whatever sound pleases you the most.

Well, using volume control comes to mind...

Cheers

So listening on high gain with max volume isnt a good idea

.

I will watch out to dont go too high with max gain.

Should ot be enough?

Just turn the volume really low and then turn the gain up. And should what be enough?

Strictly speaking if you want to figure out whether or not your DAP/DAC can blow your HP/IEM you have to check the specs of your equipment. For example if your DAP/DAC can output 200mW but you HP/IEM can only tolerate 20mW input you can kill your HP/IEM.

However, it is more likely that you will kill your ears first.....

At any rate - just do as 7S Cameron suggested and you will be just fine.

Cheers.

a dummy beginner question here,

I've successfully installed v1.9.3 firmware and USB-DAC driver v1.1 (previous v1.0 doesn't work for me) on my 64-bit win PC. Now, when i connected the DX50 as usb dac to my pc and it takes control of the volume of the pc while i play FLAC video files and/or audio files through MS Media Player v12.076xxxxx.

My question is "Is there any WASAPI and/or ASIO settings I have to do about the MS Media Player besides the 'iBasso Mango Audio Device', since I'm not sure right now I just use the 'AMP' section of DX50 USB-DAC or already the raw audio data have been passed bit-perfectly from Media Player to DX50 to do the DAC and AMP job?"

If WASAPI and ASIO settings have to do about the Media Player, how could I proceed?

p.s. my source 99% FLAC converted from WAV or CD rip and just a few DSD albums, I don't use Foobar2000 right now, or I better use Foobar2000 as core PC audio player software and get rid of MS MP and forget all those complicated settings, if any.

Much appreciated and looking forward for some help and recommendations.

Have a nice day.

This point is not actually mine because I haven`t been yet able to confirm it 100% but maybe there is slight decrease in SQ when battery is getting empty.

I'm so glad someone else has mentioned this because I thought I was going crazy. I can tell the difference in sound quality between full and low charged batteries. It's the most bizarre thing and I didn't think it possible but I'm pretty sure the sound quality decreases when the battery is low.

What battery are You using and is it noticeable with all batteries? I think I started to notice it when my first Kinps battery was going bad. Bought newer kinps and I can`t tell difference in SQ for sure when full or low battery. I think it is related also with battery age and quality.
