The iBasso DX50 Thread - Latest firmware: 1.9.5 - June 30, 2016

Each to his own. I prefer it DX50 way. But how about X3ii sound vs. DX50 ?

Well it's still to soon to talk since I got it just today. Some early impressions with internal amp and with my LZ12 (I could change some of these thoughts later):

The X3 II has more forwarded mids/voice with equilibrated sound (I thought it was more coloured). The DX50 has better highs (lot better to me), more mid-bass with better bass slam and overall warmer sound signature. The DX50 seems to have slighty better soundstage while the instruments separation is really close with these two DAP. In terms of detail I think the DX50 is clearly superior. Well at the moment I think DX50 but I would say these are really close.

This was with 1.9.2 firmware or Sound Unlocked?

Finally have my DX50 back from warranty. Seems like it is from the new batch with new warranty card and full accessories (now I have 2 pair of accessories :) ). Then again having to sent it back twice is a PITA (the time waiting for it is longer than the time I used it now....).

Seems like it is from the new batch

Why You think that or what shows it? If it is newest, then I`m interested id inside components are same or not.

Well, that doesn`t mean yet that it is new batch in terms of hardware. Mine came end of 2013. I was just wondering if latest batch DX50 has same internals as previous revisions.

That "Chuck Norris" edition was actually one of DOC`s firmwares but You could call SU 1.3.3 as Chuck Norris also... for me it has been constantly "killing" other FWs SQ wise... subjective opinion though.

Hey question guys what is a good eq settings for sub bass or just strong bass for the dx 50 pics of images of you got them so I can copy please. Ps I do not like the bass setting that they already have on the dx 50 just don't think the bass is impact full enough.

About bass impact You are right... it`s DX50 main fault. While EQ may improve it littlebit, there are some more effective ways to fix it:
1) Change HO capacitors - most effective and great overall SQ improvement
2) Change to custom firmware - SUEX for example has best bass impact but it is littlebit buggy and based on old 1.2.8 fw.
3) Use portable amp instead HO - most expensive and costs additional room to carry around + charging but power hungy HP/IEMs can benefit.

Most bass impact You get out of option 1 + 2 I think but depends what amp is compared.
EQ can raise bass quantity but not much help in bass/kick impact/presence/tightness... it`s just those crappy sounding HO capacitors DX50 is using (WHEN are You going to learn iBasso???).

run thread search function for SUEX but if You`re getting Cayin C5, then I wouldn`t bother much with SUEX. Better off to go with NDFFF or SU 1.3.3 firmware... paired with C5 SU1.3.3 should leave You with better result I`m guessing. Even better - ask from some DX50 owners who also have Cayin C5, user 7S Cameron for example.
