The iBasso DX50 Thread - Latest firmware: 1.9.5 - June 30, 2016

I'm using the SU 1.2.3 FW right now and somehow the playback stops after a couple of songs and to press the play button doesn't work, so skipping the current song is the last solution. Is someone experiencing the same issue?

hey guys, i have a qustion about gain, i always thought the higher you set gain on an amp the more background noise you are likely to get? but when using the ibasso dx50 with my rha ma750's on low gain i have a slight background noise, then med it almost disappears and on high gain there is no noise whatsoever, so what's the deal with this and which gain should i use?

thanks

no one have an opinion on this? just want to know what gain i should use? thanks :)

Yeah that's how it goes sometimes. I would say most sentive headphones that the higher the gain the more prone to hissing their is. You answered your own question, most would say to expirement and see what sounds best to you, while a lot of people use LO to a amp so a whole different experience there.

yeah, I guess all the DX50 do that - lowest noise floor on the highest gain... I just use high gain with everything and adjust the volume (btw, it's not digital, there's no bit shifting when adjusting volumes so no loss of audio quality there)

imho medium gain is best with DX50, with all my headphones. Better dynamics.

Seems like your current song is lossy but you use the "lossless only" mode.

Weird, as I'm pretty sure that all my music is lossless expect one album and it does stop on songs, which are lossless.

Then they could be re-encoded from mp3-s. I converted 320kbps mp3 to flac and it didn`t play with SU1.2.3 lossless only mode.

Where did you get that? As far as I know DX50 uses digital volume control. So it uses but shifting. Why would LO volume is also affected by the volume control if it's implementing an analog volume control?

iBasso also recommends setting volume to max when using LO.

What you are saying about volume control does not add up.

DX50 should have vol control implemented differently as usually done and shouldn`t have effect on sound quality. Correct me if I`m wrong. Haven`t digged much into technicality of it but that`s what I have read briefly.

DX50 have a digital volume control, implemented in the WM8740 DAC
So, for best signal to noise, you must set this digital volume the higher you can, and the gain (low-mid-high) the lower you can
Start with low gain, and if you need a volume of 250 and + for correct sound level, go to the next higher gain setting (and lower the volume obviously...)
