The Hi-Fi + Hi-Res Audiophiles' Bluetooth Headphone Adapter Thread - [17.Oct.21] iFi GO Blu impression added

@ClieOS any thoughts about the Muse Hifi M4. I don't really need another bluetooth adapter (after the Btr3k, Btr5, Up5, Btr7 and an incoming GoBlu) but the new gear itch is slowly coming back. I was tempted by the Btr15 but the overall performance seems too close to the Btr7.

The specs look decent but can't say much beyond that.

Yes, the positioning of the BTR15 is still lower than that of the BTR7,
and the BTR15 has the advantage of a more advanced design concept and more avant-garde functions :beerchug:

@FiiO Willson also in the Btr15 thread from a post yesterday by @FiiO I've seen that strangely the Btr7 is slightly less powerful at 320mW vs 340mW for the Btr15.

Yes, a little.

I Had some high hopes when I just saw the BTR15 coming after the way too bulky BTR7...

But am I the only one to need dedicated buttons for Play/pause, next and previous track ??? It seems that almost none of these BT adapters have it...
It is always left to the "multifuction button" that is a total hassle when I have to navigate forward through multiple tracks.

And battery life seems also not to be relevant; 8 hours promised, which often leads to 6 hours maximum real-world performance when out of the box, maybe 5 hours after a few years... Not usable for a full day... is it a joke ?

All "improvements" on quality portable audio seems to be on the power output and added screen and so on... but for me the idea of such device is to be able to listen to music on the go, whithout having to pull out the phone every now and then, and whitout having to recharge it over a day (8-10 hours at least).

For the moment I stick with Qudelix 5K, good SQ, bettery life and footprint but their button design is crap, lots of hit and miss, and even sometimes I swear I shut the damn thing off, just to realize after a few hours it is still connected to the phone !

The BTR15's next and previous track is multiplexed with the volume buttons

Portable devices have to consider size and a lot of aspects, can't afford to make 2 more buttons

Thanks for your answer, I wasn't expecting feedback from Fiio staff
Sorry but this is not a good enough reason, I used Radsone ES100, it had dedicated buttons (plus optional functions on long press) for all these basic functions.
I know Fiio always choose to mitigate navigation buttons with vol buttons, but this is not convenient.

In fact this and the battery life of the BTR series always put me off, even if it seems that BTR5 is one of the best selling BT adapters, l agree...
Two more buttons can fit in such small device, no problem, of course it raises the manufacturing costs a bit, but not that much.

It is not that I don't like Fiio products in general.
I have FH3 and FH7 IEMs and for the price, in terms of sound they are a marvel to my ears. I recently bought the UTWS5 because of extremely good reviews, and I accepted the fact that you cannot put too many buttons on TWS units, but the connection is unstable; connecting/disconnecting is somtimes a hassle, and the battery life is way off the official figures; the adapters go off only after 3-4 hours...

When they work, the SQ and audio sync L+R, stereo imaging (which is quite challenge...) is great, I recognize the strong points of such a product.
I still criticize Qudelix for their wierd button implementation; lots of hit and miss...

But For the BTR15, if you would have just added these two buttons, plus a battery life of 10-15hrs, I would have give it a try, for sure...
But as I said before, maybe I am the only one, or one of the few that consider this as important.

BTR5 (2019) vs BTR15 vs BTR7

BTR15 is slightly bigger than BTR5, but the difference is pretty much neglectable. First impression is really positive. It seems to be ever slightly brighter sounding than BTR5, otherwise wider and bigger image / staging. Those who has BTR7 can probably skip BTR15 if SQ is your main priority, but those who think BTR7 is a bit too big will likely find BTR15 more ideal / lesser a compromise when it comes to size vs SQ. It is the proper 'next gen' BTR5 instead of BTR5 2021. Firmware still needs some polishing but overall useable.

BTR7 has the size/weight of some entry level DAPs
But BTR15 has a reasonnable size, still "portable", even "clippable" on a pocket, belt for easy access...

Yes, I think that's a very fair comment.

The firmware for BTR15 will be gradually updated in the future, and there are some features that we will continue to refine

What is the take for Timeear's BTE-222 and TEU-99? One is an entry-level the other feels like it's a mid-ranger, both lack balanced outputs.

https://www.linsoul.com/products/timeear-bte-223?variant=44305582457049
TEU-99 is a pure USB dongle, I assumed Linsoul reused the same doc template from BTE-222 and forget to edit the BT section out.

BTE-222 seems ok, nothing particularly special. Noted that the listed model likely comes with QCC3034.

Sorry to necropost.

Have you tried to manually update the UTWS5 firmware? https://forum.fiio.com/note/showNoteContent.do?id=202203231057051219397&tid=125 Download the file and use the Fiio Control app to install it manually. This fixed most my issues.
