Looks like you need more baffle vents maybe?

As I understand the holes in the front (baffle vents) reduce the bass. See: https://homebrewheadphones.com/voicing-headphones/
There's no way that's accurate for all headphones.
It really depends on the combination of all those elements together, including the type of driver, since not all drivers behave in exactly the same way, or respond well to certain tuning methods.
I'm not saying the website is wrong, but each headphone has to be approached and modified in a unique way.

I'm sure that repeating the same mods (closing vents, closing baffles, etc) on 3 different closed-back headphones would yield quite extremely different results - not inverse of expectations, but not always the same frequencies are boosted/reduced, or frequencies are boosted/reduced to a much greater degree.

It should go without saying, but ear pads can have a MUCH stronger effect on the headphone tuning than the variables mentioned in the link.

To argue the point more specifically, Beyerdynamic closed-backs are almost 100% open baffle, yet are known for their strong bass.
This is due to the combination of the single small vent opening (DT770) and the velour ear pads which contribute hugely to the tuning.

Most Japanese closed-back studio headphones I've encountered only have a series of small holes/vents in the baffle, usually amounting to less than 5% open-baffle, but some of them, like the JVC HA-MX100-Z do not produce the same level of bass as the Beyerdynamic DT770, even though it has pleather ear pads which provide a better bass seal.

All I'm saying is that you can't look at every element individually, as the tuning is the sum of all elements.

Oh, nice discussion. I like the exchange about headphone tuning. Hope we don't abuse the thread too much with this.

OK, here is the link to the driver:

@greg:
Thanks for the assessment. I'm close to trying it out and just drilling some holes in the front. I ordered another driver from China at the same time. This one is 50mm and I expect a little more bass. Also here is the link: https://www.aliexpress.com/item/1005002443928773.html. I will try it out before I continue with the tuning. Takes only a few weeks until it arrives. I post then again a photo and the frequency band.

I'm very interested in hearing about the 50mm driver, as that was one I was considering myself.

OK, I tried it and thrilled 3 holes as baffle vents in the front. Not the most beautiful but should serve their purpose.

The result is that the low frequencies become quieter and the headphone becomes less bass.

I'am really looking forward to the 50mm drivers.

That baffle is waaaaaaaaaaaaay too thick ._.

Just by putting the driver closer to your ear will result in a HUGE improvement in the bass response.

Oof.
RIP treble.

Have you got a thin baffle sorted out yet? Seems kinda pointless to me to keep doing measurements with a flawed shell.

I don't think this gives the drivers a fair chance to show what they're capable of.

Ideally I'd love to see each driver put into their respective 'purpose' headphone (d9200 in this case) and measurements taken ... but that'll never happen :D
