Welcome to the headphone hobby. It's a hobby industry with no regulation and a few corporations touching our little world. But you can't get comparable quality commercial product and hearing it justifies the cost in anguish and frustration. It is what it is.

I wish I was able to snag that GS-X in the FS a week or so ago. The long wait time is something I don't think I can really handle

more are on the way.  i just doubled the size of the next production run as it looked like i was going to sell out before they were built, again.  things are going well and the enclosures are being taken care of first (mostly done at this point) which is always the hardest part

So after much debate and research, it seems like the HeadAmp GS-X is the best solid-state amplifier around at the present. At least as a great all-around amp that works with a wide variety of headphones. My question to you that own, or have heard the GS-X MK II, do you think Schiit Statement amp will be able to touch the performance of the GS-X? I know there has been little knowledge about the amp that has been released, but I'm really trying to get some feedback as to what people think. I want to buy a SS amp that is good with a wide variety of headphones and IEMs, and it looks like the GS-X will definitely fit that bill. But, I'm wary to buy too soon, because I know the statement amp hasn't yet released. What do you guys think?

I would seriously consider ecp audio's DSHA-1 as a top tier solid state balanced amp as well. I am an owner but I also own the pico power and have been a fan of the gs1 since it hit the scene. I'm a fan of both Justin and Doug and think they make great sounding great looking high quality stuff.

Too bad the GSX price increased this week. I was about to place an order but the increase is just too much for me to bear.

Well I hate to say it but here in Australia I had to pay over 3k for my GS-X mk2 S/N 14, I was not happy about paying a lot more, but I had to have it, read too many good things. Hopefully next time I can buy directly through Justin

Justin Wilson gave us a fair warning well in advance.

He mentioned this approx. 2 months ago.  Given that Ray has been charging 3K for the Apache since its first released, Justin's gears are a much better bargain IMO.  I was going back forth on it myself but I'm fine knowing that my Gilmore Reference balanced is nearly as good for my lower impedance phones.

The price didn't increase, i offered the first batch of the GS-X mk2 at the same price as the original GS-X, and now it is the regular price.  Because the amp costs a few hundred $ more to build than the old version several years ago and the parts for the discrete amplifier modules are increasingly rare, i had to raise it a bit
