The hate on beats, why?

They sound terrible. If I had not listened to them first I would have gotten into head-fi a long time ago.

He said, owning the Grado PS500.

And so what? I also own Audeze LCD-X, LCD-3. Only thing is that I would have been enjoying this sort of equipment for years longer if I hadn't been put off by my first experience with Beats junk.

While I do look down my nose at sheep rockin' Bloats, the fools I really pity are iPhone disciples with stock Crapple earbuds in their lugholes. Pay through the nose for a handset but hook up the worst 'phones known to man. Ignorance is not bliss.

I really like the Earpods for stocks actually. Much better than the JVC Marshmallows I'd usually recommend people who had broken stock buds.

I personally believe it's one of the biggest misconceptions on Head-fi, played out by strong placebo.

Apples stock earbuds are actually very good..

Compared to a lot of other earbuds, that is.

You know, I really do wish I could find some earbuds that sound like my Ultrasone DJ1.  I'd love that very much.

I head the urBeats before.  Hated 'em.  And at $100 I'd do better burning my money.  Maybe Beats (Apple) should update their IEM's as well.

Let's be frank, there's only one place for stock earbuds and that's the bin. Including Samsung's (even though I'm a Sammy fandroid).

Well, in White Lotus' defense, there was one time when Tyll reviewed and measured the frequency response of the ol' Apple earbuds as a tip of the hat to the late Steve Jobs, and he found that, despite major roll-off, the earbuds had one of the flattest frequency responses he'd ever seen in an earbud.

Anyway, to the Beats Appreciation Thread! (and more pictures)

I've also compared them to the considerably more pricey HiSoundAudio Living earbuds here:

And the Astrotec Lyra here:

Here is Tyll reviewing the "insanely great Apple Earbud":

Anyway. The last few pages of this thread are making me tempted to pick some of these up:

Both this and the continued mocking of Beats are a good example of how companies ruin their reputation. The original iPod buds were horrid, so people couldn't believe that they could provide good-quality buds with their iDevices. Likewise, the original Beats were horrid-sounding (overlooked by headphone-ignorant journalists who all said "Wow! Music with bass!") and fairly easy to break. Like Skullcandy did, they have a reputation to overcome. Now, because Beats muscled out their original partner, Monster, both companies have gone on to make better headphones than they did before.
