It's not the quietest when you have very sensitive IEMs. Not bad but definitely audible hiss when not playing music.

I get some hiss when using my DUNU DN-1000s. I thought it was my tinnitus but it's actually a low hiss. It's not really bothersome because I can't hear it when the music is playing. I got the same hiss when using it with my old X3 so I wondered if it was the player or the IEMs.

You definitely heard it. At least it's really minimal with the x3 2nd gen, heaps better than the x1.

On the topic of using an X player "merely" for mp3s, thought I'd dredge up this old post explaining the superior mp3 playback now featuring on all recent firmware:

Note that this was posted in April 2014

I am using Shure SE425s and I haven't noticed any hiss or distortions when using the low gain setting while listening to DSD and 24/192.  From everything I have read, high res music is most susceptible to noise if the brick wall filter isn't done correctly or even from the recording itself when transferred to high res.  Overall I have been very impressed with the quality of the sound from the X3II on all fronts, including the depth of the noise floor.

You'll have to try more sensitive IEMs to hear the noise.

Ex. Noble, FAD, t-peos hybrids, DUNU hybrids, Inear, etc...

Oh ok,  I honestly haven't read nearly as much about IEMs as I have about full size.  I am not even sure where my SE425s fall when it comes to sensitivity vs. other IEMs.

I am planning to use my free upgrade to Windows 10 in a couple of months... Do you think the X3 DAC driver will work with win10?

It works with the current build of Windows 10 (10130) i'm using so it should definitely work with the full release.
You have to disable driver signature check to install and use the driver though.

Thanks. (I think I had to do the same in win7...)

After about 3 hours listen time in 2 days, I might say sure se210
sounds better. Or it is my brain. Changed gain to high.
Reading some posts, I found one about superlux hd381. I will
check out if available in fact. The model on the site is B, not F
mentioned as the prefered.
Waiting for device to arrive, I played changing from format to
format. For the sake of play. Is there musical difference between
dsd and flac 24/something? Cannot say, using this se210 for
now. Also, right now, I have an impression that right monitor of
them cleared a bit.
Best regards.
