We need a masterclass thread on how to edit the firmware!!

It's super easy.

You can download the tools to pack and unpack the firmware here:
http://www.mediafire.com/download/h8nq8n3pbcx5qbi/X1+firmware+tools.zip

Just put the x1.fw file into the X1 firmware tools folder (along with the pack.bat, pack.sh, etc. files), double-click on unpack.bat and an x1 folder should appear. So that's the firmware all unpacked. Go into that folder, then the litegui folder and then the theme1 folder (if that's the theme you want to edit). To change the font size, you'll have to open the config.ini file in the theme folder. Go through the list and look for anything referring to size and that should change the font for whatever it is.

For example, the first one you'll see in the list is:
<topbar_volume_size>12</topbar_volume_size>
This is referring to the volume number at the top left of the screen, next to the speaker icon. Change the number 12 to whatever size you like.

You can go about changing the colors as well.
<topbar_volume_color>0xFFFFFF</topbar_volume_color>
FFFFFF is the code for white, 000000 is the code for black (so this one would be 0x000000)
You can find the codes for colors here: http://www.w3schools.com/tags/ref_colorpicker.asp, then just put the 6-character code in place of the FFFFFF.

And if you're feeling really adventurous, you can go into the other folders and start changing the images.

Ugly or neat workaround for huge libraries on the X1?

Alright, with the 1.5 release, I decided to modify the firmware to have larger fonts. I ended up using the same theme (dark background, white text) for all themes, only difference being the font size. I didn't change everything, just the things I found most important - the list font size and song name on the Now Playing screen. I did initially change the song information (name, artist, album, media information) on the Now Playing screen, but it started to get cut off on the bottom, so I stopped increasing that.

So anyways, each theme's font size gets increased by 2.
Theme1 is the default size (16)
Theme2 goes up to 18
..
Theme6 goes up to 26

I went to buy the Fiio X5. Upon testing I prefer the Fii0 X1 sound. it sound great. In fact I came across a web page
which like the X1 over the X5. The Fiio X1 sound better that my Fiio Olumpus 2 10K.  so difficult to chose. I cancel
many DAC order.  some say its can play 32bit 384k sound but it has a USB which can do that but the main board
can do 32 bit. so confusing. I will wait another year for product to mature. Then will look again.
