If you are on line out and connect your headphones of turn on the player, a message will appear "Line out may not be connected to earphones..." if you press the back button (upper right) when that message is on screen, an option will appear so you can quickly change to headphone out using the wheel. However I haven't found a way to change from headphone out to line out other than using the settings menu.

yes, this is the only way to change the output settings. btw, you can also used the forward/backward buttons on the bottom to select the options.

I hope Fiio is working on developing some players with long battery life. Around 40 hours would be a nice start, however ones with around 80 hours of battery life would be even better.

About the big font firmware, we are working on it and will be released in the coming soon for X1, X3SG, X5SG.
