any reason to get the dx90 over the 50 ?...   worth the price difference.

thanks.

The DX50 sounds a bit thin in comparison to the DX90. There is more Bass und overall a thicker, more organic sound to the DX90. Also the Soundstage opens up quiet a bit.
Dont get me wrong, the DX50 is a nice little DAP, but if you have the extra cash, go with the DX90. Its worth the extra money.

I just upgraded the firmware of my DX90 from 2.1.5 (Lurker0 mod) to 2.3.0 (Lurker0 mod). I am not sure what vudu was done but the sound seems warmer and I like it. I was researching other DAPs but now I think I will just enjoy it for a while. Also, the UI seems more responsive. It can be all in my head but I am happy now.

I using dx90 with v2.2.0. If i update current firmware 2.2.0 with new 2.3.0.is it possible that if i dont like 2.3.0 SQ can i use (replace with 2.2.0)my old firmware 2.2.0 replace with 2.3.0 ? I mean in Windows if i use Windows 8 i couldn't not install Windows 7 on Windows 8. Because in Windows we cannot update older operating system on new operating system.and one more question is there any noticeable SQ difference between 2.2.0 on 2years 2.3.0 ? I like balance SQ signature not too bright or too bassier.

Yes, you can roll back from 2.30 to 2.20 easily. I for one have been enjoying 2.30, however, and IMHO it fits your above  stated sound signature preference.

How does V2.3.0 compare to the Lurker V2.2.0?

I didn't spend much time with 2.20L as I found both stock and lurker 2.20 a bit thin, but I'm on 2.30L now which I'd characterize, as balanced, transparent and detailed but still with decent note thickness. Certainly not the warmest firmware, I think 2.18 emphasized bass / low end more, but 2.30 Lurker is best balanced for my preferences at the moment. YMMV.

Oh my, Stange. There is a lot of potential here I was even able to get the player to play tidal from my iPhone with the camera kit. But only for 3 seconds or so. But the player didn't just stop it litterally made the iPhone blue screen. I never seen a blue screen on iphine I think I've seen pink or red screens in the past
Anyways it sounded great streaming tidal for those few seconds. I tried to a few times made the iPhone blue screen about 5 times. So wish that would work. I don't see any reason to discontinue this product if they can just get the DAC working on iPhone and Android this could increase the sells.

I just ordered a dx90 as an upgrade to my FIIO x3. The x3 works as a USB dac with my iPad 3 using spotify or Apple Music when connected through a cheap Chinese made camera connection kit/USB hub I bought via EBay.

I hope I'll be able to use the dx90 for that as well. Will report whether I get any crashes. Strange though that ibasso limits this to 48 kHz. X3 goes up to 192 khz as USB dac.

What iOS version are you using and gave you tried an iPad? Some USB dacs draw too much power for the iPhone but work with an iPad.
Has anyone here got the dx90 to work as a USB dac with an android phone such as a Galaxy S5 or 6?
