The Deals DISCUSSION Thread (READ THE FIRST POST!!!)

Yesterday I purchased a set of Shure Aonic 40s for $99 -- good sound signature for me, long battery life, solid ANC, etc. Used some loyalty credits to bring total cost to $89 including tax.
Yeah, that's a pretty good deal, about $50 below the lowest price I could find during a quick search.
I am pretty sure last prime day the 660S2 could be gotten for $380 which was a pretty great deal.
I agree, that's a pretty steep discount, below the regular sale price for sure.

I guess my point wasn't that there weren't any deals to be had during Prime day sales, just that finding a good deal, especially on stuff you actually want, is an exception, not a rule. Maybe I'm just a bit jaded since the things on my wish list don't ever have a deep discount during a Prime day. lol.

RATS. I purchased my R6 III just three weeks ago at full price...oh, well...
Well...you do have 30 days to return the item. You can just purchase it again.

Is it just me, or are the audio deals this Prime sale relatively limited and those on offer a little meh?
Prime Day is a lot like Amazon Vine. Looks great on the surface, but peel a few layers down, and it's a pretty uninspiring program. Amazon takes out a lot of trash through Prime Day sales just as it does with "free" items for Vine reviewers.

Sure, there are a few solid sales on popular items, just like "door busters" at brick-and-mortar stores on Black Friday. But the majority of the stuff on sale is meh.

Bottom line, and remember this: Jeff Bezos is NEVER, EVER trying to give you a good deal. He's trying 24/7 for you to unleash your credit card or pry open your money clip and buy repeatedly and relentlessly. "Frictionless buying" is Bezos' stated goal, and Amazon does it better than anyone.

Harmonicdyne Athena: $120shipped
Originally was $189 shipped or thereabouts. Its been slowly dropping price and I purchased last Amazon day for $143. $120 is all-time low so bought a second set because first set is out on loan.

Good headphone, v-shaped but smooth transitions, very comfy, pretty good in terms of hifi technical ability. Not much to complain about which is a great compliment for a closed-back especially one so cheap.

edit: my impressions

True.
But not ethical.

Cheers.
It's really Amazon's own fault. Their official policy is to never do price adjustments, although occasionally they make exceptions. Support reps will literally tell you to return the item and order another one. Most other retailers will do price adjustments.
