Just asking, is Monolite good quality, or on the cheap side…. Mostly a good value I would suspect .
I own 8 Monoprice cans. They definitely aim for sound quality over build quality, but, usually, you get a lot of sound for the money, especially if you get them on sale, of course. I have bought all of mine at steep discounts except the M1060, I bought that soon after it first launched. I haven't had any fall apart completely on me but the wood on my M1060 did crack and I've had some other cosmetic blemishes on other models. However, I have a lot of headphones that I rotate between so none of them are used daily year in and year out. QC/consistency isn't great though. My M1070 is solid feeling but my M1570C which uses the same headband has all sorts of wonkiness in the headband and cup rotation.

The M1060/M1060C/M565 all had headbands that were poorly made. The 1st run of the M1060 had MMCX connectors that had issues, and also had a bit of a history of the wood cracking. But after they switched to the dual 2.5mm the MMCX was no longer an issue. And the wood cracking seemed to stop after the first revision as well. So other than the thin metal erector set headband, the M1060/M1060C/M565 are all decently well made.

The M1070/M1070C/M1570/M1570C/M570 all use a different style headband and are pretty well made.
