I know the Shure 1540 is not close to hifi but I have owned them for 7 years now and they still put a smile on my face. I paid $350 for them on sale in 2016 and my hobby of buying new cans every few months stopped. Everyone has different ears but to my ears the 1540 is heaven. Great price on cans that just give you amazing sound. Though they are not N/C boy they put you in your own world without hearing other sounds. I know Shure isn't sexy but the best $350 I ever spent. I have tried cans that are $1,000 and they just don't give me the love of the 1540s. I might buy them for when the ones I use die. I don't treat them well and throw them in a backpack without protection and they still look and sound great...Anyway, amazing for the price.

Yea, it's too bad they don't do price matching, even with their own prices.

If you buy something and it goes on sale the next day, you're SOL unless you want to deal with refunding the initial purchased item and buying it again under the new sale price.

I wonder if it is a permanent price change. After previous models most early adopters would be risking a loss of value. On occasion the price might go back to the original.

Sure, it’s nice to be gifted with a generous discount but as I rather not find out that when I paid $4000 (correct retail) now less than a year the retail dropped $1,000. When you might decide you want change your resale of course is equally affected.
