How secure are the magnetic lids on those and are they real or imitation leather?

It is made of PU leather which is synthetic. The magnet is fairly secure; I can hold it upside down w/IEM & cable in it and shake it up & down without the lid popping open. It won't be as secure as say a zippered case; it did pop open when I snapped my wrist in a quick motion so it's possible a drop onto a hard surface would eject the contents. As a storage case it's fine, but I wouldn't necessarily use it for transport.

Thanks for that, I was wondering for carrying in a pocket or a bag. So zippered remains first choice. Gives me an excuse to buy more XINHS cables.
